@@bruceang82 I don’t think you can find any in your change but the local coin shop will sell them for a lot less than you pay for silver solder. Thanks for your interest and your feedback. Joe

you can save a lot of Silver Braze wire when u hammer it flat on a anvil and cut it with a sheetmetall plier or scissors . that way i get faster smelting of the solder wire , and also its easier to dose .

@@pirminkogleck4056 Hi Pirmin, that works very good. I wish I knew that before I made the video. I’ll mention it in a later video when I’m doing something else that requires silver braze. I will also mention that you gave me the tip. Joe

@@JoesModelEngines yes i found out when i got some heavy thick silver braze from my old job. it was just to thick for what i use it ! so i thought i give it a try and make some 0,5mm strips from it , and it realy works so good that i stopped buying thin wire at a premium price. i just hammer mine down . not sure if that would also work with the sterling silver.

@@pirminkogleck4056 Question, how thick is the silver wire that you hammered flat. My wire is about 1.587 mm . It takes a while to hammer it out flat. Is that about what you’re doing. Joe

@@JoesModelEngines yes mine is pretty much the same and yes it takes a while ( but the pieces i solder are so small that it maybe makes more sense for my aplications. maybe for your bigger workpieces it doesnt matter if u use 1/16" strong solder wire ? but it takes a while, thats right ! i used a normall European style Hammer on a small anvill

@@pirminkogleck4056 Hi Pirmin, You are correct about the amount issue, but I did learn from your idea of hammering it flat. I always cut the appropriate amount and put it on the joint. When I heated it sometimes it would roll off , when I tested your idea I found that it can’t roll off when it’s flat. I feel like a fool.Sometimes it’s the unexpected result that helps you learn something useful. 😳Thanks for the tip. Joe

@@JoesModelEngines yeah usualy i get the videos recommended and it came up, and i usualy never miss your videos. your tips are very helpfull and i want to encourage you to just let a go pro camera run when you do your modells and cut the best scenes and do the audio at a later point . i am sure you would get a strong followership like blondihacks or other model engineering youtubers- you are very skilled and have many tips we dont know . i know its a load of work, and u dont have jim around 24/7 , so my suggestion would be to let a camera roll and do audio voiceover later. it would be nice . Just my Two Cents !
