A circular walk over the Wainwright Fell, Silver How. Ascending via the SE gully and descending by a crossing of Wray Gill and Allan Bank. A previous asent of Silver How can be found here... • Wainwright Walks wi'a ...
Today's route is the less strenuous of the two, and IMHO has the better views.

Glad you enjoyed it Phil, I went with the intention of doing some photography as well. But time was limited and it just didn't really happen. Those sheep are funny aren't they... they've got a cheeky look to them 🤔 Thanks for watching and for your kind comments. Cheers Alistair 👍

👍 2nd! We love Grasmere and have lots of fond memories but would love to make more in this area, love you said the waterproof pants are the National dress for the area 🤭 Dollywagon pike this is our favourite name so it has now become a must to do for us! Another fabulous hike Alistair, hope you are ok?, missed you last weekend we didn’t get our Alistair/ Wainwright local lad fix! That 🐑 on that ledge 😂 have a great weekend 💃❤️😘

Hi, there are so many walks from Grasmere and the Winter Bus Timetable let's me get there....and back! The national dress joke I stole from a crew member on a ferry in Norway a long time ago 😂 Dollywagon Pike 🤣🤣 every time I say it I think of you guys, I'll have to get it climbed ASAP..if the buses allow 🤔 I couldn't resist filming the Herdwicks sat on that ledge... typical of them!.. They originate from Scandinavia, came here with the Vikings!..My Grandad used to call me a Herdwick... I had long hair in my teens... now I've hardly any 🤣🤣🤔 Sorry there wasn't a video last week, the wind and rain has meant I didn't film anything ☹️ Thanks for watching and commenting as always 👌 Have a great weekend ATB Alistair 👍

I went up via Easedale Tarn about 5 years ago and spent a full day hiking over the ridge and remember coming down the Allen Bank way thinking, pleased I am not coming up this way as it was so steep. So easy to lose that fell fitness and I have not been over the Lakes in almost a month due to miserable weather and now loaded with a bloody cold. Looked a bit of a boggy old walk but good to see you missed most of the showers, cheers Alan

Hi Alan, hope you're feeling better soon. As you say it's been a bit wet and miserable for a while now.... today's been a lovely day mind 😀. We've been out on Cartmel Fell... beautiful! It's steep that way I went up, I felt everyone of my 21years😂😂 It's a lovely area 👌 Thanks for watching and commenting, it's very much appreciated. Cheers Alistair 👍

Great noise of Autumnal leaves underfoot! National dress indeed! 🌧️😂 beautiful shots of Helm Crag, one of my personal favourites! Easy to do, loosing that hill fitness, ive done it in just a couple of weeks, will have to push to do some ascents this weekend! Dollywagonpike, one of these days im going to have to climb that one just so i can say the name a lot! Beautiful Herdwicks, almost entirely indigenous to the Lakes, you rarely to never see them any place else! A worldclass sheep! Lovely walk past Wordsworths place, we use that route to ascend Helm Crag! Awesome video Alistair ♥️ 🥾

I felt like an old man on that steep bit 😲😂 I might do Helm Crag again... by a different route 🤔 The leaves were a bit soggy in the main....a lot dryer today tho'👍 Although I haven't been filming, today was a photography walk. I like saying Dollywagon...I always think of GEN X when I say it now 😂😂 I'm restricted by the Winter Bus Timetable now, so there may be some repetition...or less frequent videos. Thanks so much for watching and commenting it's very much appreciated. Cheers Alistair 👍

@@WainwrightWalksWiaLocalLad oh sorry to hear the Bus Timetable has a reduced service. Thats a bit like the NYM completely absent service all year round. Id be very frustrated if i had to rely on it. The colours and views in the Lake District i feel are distinctly unique, no matter how many times i see them they get under my skin. Every time i see one of your videos places a revisit higher on the list. Im vowing to return asap and Dollywagon, that name has intrigued me for too long now, im coming for you! Have an awesome weekend! ♥️ 🚌 🏔️

@@WainwrightWalksWiaLocalLad There is something in what you say. I try to do as much walking as possible whilst wearing shorts as I think the resistance a pair of trousers gives when you are doing a steep climb can make you even more tired. The mild weather has allowed me to climb in shorts even last week.
