Silver Lake Sand Dunes Jeep Invasion 2021, MOJO, 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Elite, 4x4 Offroad

MOJO did a mini-invades at the Silver Lake Sand Dunes this June, it was my first time driving on sand and it was a learning experience! It a great weekend of sand dunes and friends! We ran into a few other KL's while we were there. We will be returning! Drone footage was an Autel Evo2 Pro 6k.
@8:35 was the only interesting bit from the Trail Rides, and the obstacle course was kinda a disappointment as well for anyone who didn't have +37's (it was all the same style tall breakover on 'k-rails' ).

-Dobinsons KL Trailhawk suspension lift, paired with partial Hazard Sky lift spacers to achieve 2.5" lift

Thanks man! I'm still learning how best to use it, and i get very excited when i get the chance because i often ride solo which makes it hard to fly the drone! Its an Evo2 Pro 6k. I recorded in 4k and do my final vids in 1080.

There was a couple stock KLs out there, the dunes are great because you can do so much without a lift!

It did great, only thing holding it back was my inexperience in sand! I had to drive 6 hours to get to these!

Ummm? When doing the hill climb? It kept shifting into 2nd gear right before the top, losing all momentum and wheel speed causing the Jeep to bog down. (thats why i was complaining about it shifting in the video)

Love the videos! What radio/comms kit are you running in your KL? Wondering if 2-way radios are sufficient or something more robust for the big group rides, sounds like everyone has one.

The club uses a mix between mounted units and handhelds. My Midland MXT115 MicroMobile is strong enough to lead a group of 50 in the woods, maintaining comms all the way to my tail gunner. I talk a little bit about that during the walk-around i did at the end of my 'Spare Tire Mount and Upgrades Walkaround' video.

I take it it up shifted even in manual mode? Did you have any overheating issues with 4x4 system or engine/trans?

No overheating. Yeah, even in manual mode the system will still upshift.

@@UncleCliffy78 there is a trick to keeping it in the desired gear. But i couldn't replicate it enough to be sure the exact conditions that would trigger the shift. Also, Carguy11, i made 19 attempts at that hill...no overheating, which i was expecting it to after the first 20 minutes...lol...but it was fine.

Unfortunately my Subaru outback does the same on the Sand, the freaking gearbox shift itself to Second.

Did you find the need for the sand mode? I recently went to South Padre Island, TX and drove on the beach and found that it can easily handle it still in Auto mode. Close to the water mostly compact sand, but I did venture into the deeper/softer parts too and no issues. -2019 stock KL Trailhawk.

I always put mine in sand/mud mode when I go out to the dunes to keep traction control off. On wet, packed sand, it's fine in auto, but in soft sand, I want the wheel spin

On soft dunes it definitely prefers sand mode. Need the wheel spin. I had it in Auto a couple times and it did okay on the flat level parts, but any incline and it struggled.

How were the stock Trailhawk tires before you swapped them out? I just came back from SLSD with my stock JL 2 Door Sport on the street tires. I had no idea if it would be able to handle that sand, but it pulled through just fine. Didn't attempt any dune climbing though.

They did me fine for a whole year of wheeling. I only swapped them because i wanted the ground clearance. I still have them, and swap them back on whenever i'm not wheeling for more than a couple weeks.

How do you attach the flag on the front I have the same Jeep. Bout to take it to the dunes in a week.

The places you buy the flags from usually have a mount to attach it to the towhooks. It works well and isn't too hard to put on if you have a set of wrenches with you.

It was a clamp that is made to attach to tow hooks. Lots of shops around the dunes sold them.

Too bad it's a Jeep. Hilarious to see homie trying to climb the sand dune while the Jeep, in all it's over engineered electronic glory, keeps being fail.
