One of the years we were up there, the right side closest to the lake was crazy steep and tall, not even the buggies were trying it. So I said what the hell and tried it in my F250. First try I let out too early. Thought I was gonna roll it backing down at the top, but got it down safely, gave it another shot and made it right up. Also had to recover a broken Wrangler and pull him out to the parking lot. Another time I ended up pulling a Humvee and Ram with the fro suspension broken back out. Always a good time up there!

@@ProdigalOverland I made I up my first time up Test Hill. Failed my 2nd attempt, in a Wrangler years ago, Last year didn’t attempt. Too crowded, wish they didn’t allow folks park up there but at least forces people to slow down.

This video is a good lesson in specs versus reality too. Some of those side-by-side type rigs actually do NOT have as good of a break over angle as the grand cherokee trailhawk... HOWEVER... they're light and they don't sink into the sand, so they perform better. Crazy stuff.

I had an 2002 Grand Cherokee. Took it up test hill last year. Once I figured out how to keep it happy, I had no issues going up those dunes. I will say, the 2nd hill was miss leading. I sent her flying over it, no damage thankfully. But loads of fun shown up my buddies built JKU. lol

Man that place was packed but looks like everyone had a ton of fun for the most part. Glad you did roll it on that one spot. You need to invest in a Matt's Off Road Recovery rope, way safer than that static tow strap especially for this kind of work.

Nice to see how the WK2 does on sand. She was not built for sand and was not sporting sand friendly tires yet, she did better than expected (albeit expectations were pretty low for a WK2 on sand dunes). Haha. Enjoyed the video and love you all to death!

Does ESP and ABS cause the momentum lose ? I have a summit and i live in the middle east ,i found that i get more fun and success when i remove the fuses control these systems , just return them when bogged so they help you get out . Thanks for the great channel .

Toyota arrogance is aggravating and unfounded. All you need for sand is good sand tires and weight to footprint ratio. That’s why those side by sides and ATVs scoot around so well.

Indeed. Land Cruiser has more chance to get bogged before has longer chassis, lower ground clearance and heavier but the spot he got has more flat space than others.
