FYI to everyone doing the 4L60E to 4L80E swap instead of getting a custom drive shaft or cutting the original one and having to put trust in someone to balance it perfectly get a rear output yoke from a 1500 4wd and a Moog 447 U joint and your good to go without doing any extra customization…. But I’d still get a beefier shaft (same as OEM) depending on what you’re doing with your new setup

Yes he should take the white wire and tan wire and order a speed sensor for the 4l80e and solder the white wire and tan wire to the speed sensor wires

@@georgiaboy1579 the 700-R4/4L60E, will always get half the life of a 4L80E. 4L60E Same clutches for 1/2 & 3/4, so everything gets used twice. 4L60E=100K transmission, 4L80E=200K mile transmission.

@@diduck6878 I agree the 4L80E is stronger but it has it's flaws as well. Heat is their worst enemy. The 60E that I built 3 years ago is still holding on and my truck is cammed, stalled & tuned by me with a VS Racing 7875 turbo on 15 lbs of boost and I drive it like I stole it. I built an 80E a couple of years ago and it's just sitting around waiting for the 60E to break. I also installed a 40K cooler. I also have a 98 Z71 I bought new and the original engine & 60E has 286K on it but I did install a 180° thermostat and 30k trans cooler at around 15k

@@georgiaboy1579 that's impressive. That is truly a testament to the statement about the temp. I can't even imagine how many miles you'd get with a 4L80E. You can get a 4L60E to last a little longer, when you get past design flaws. 1 big one is the weaker pump design. You can combat that with stainless pump rings. They are less likely to deform/break. But as for the forward clutches all being used twice there's not much you can do. Different companies do things to increase the amount of frictions but still limited to space

I'm having some serious issues with this for some reason my computer isn't activating the Solenoids! Did you Segment swap it or use the 60e file? I have update videos on my channel but I'm running out if ideas if you had any similar issues!

JH Garage Ok yeah I did the Segment swap! We even tried to command Shift solenoids A/B and The Pressure control Solenoid but they are unresponsive! The TCC works which leads me to believe the transmission has power from the pcm 🤦‍♂️ However I'm clueless as to what could be wrong!

Problematic Alex shorter yoke I’ve noticed on 2wds you can get away with just yoke swap on 4wds you usually have to shorten the rear driveshaft

I did this in a 2003 Silverado 2wd and now it has two trans codes in the pcm. SES light came on. I could get the codes tomorrow. I triple checked the wires that were displayed here. Any ideas on what it could be? One code was something with torque converter clutch the other way 2-3 ratio I think
