Update: Customer took their trip and made it back, still no fault has returned. I’m calling it customer induced.

They have hit debris and there is a short in the wire to the electric steering pump, this is why its random. Problem is usually a oily ground or the wrong fluid was used causing the seal to degrade quicker. Happy hunting, and i apologize for my earlier comment you aren't an idiot, chevy design teams are.

Thank you. This steering system is full electric assist with no pump. I have experienced what you describe on other electro-hydraulic steering systems, not on this particular vehicle though.

Sorry to hear that. Sounds like you need to check for some loose battery cables or loose nuts at the under hood fuse panel. Thanks.

Changed battery and this silly warning came on. My truck has only 19,000 miles. My diagnostic tester will not erase it.

Make sure all of the nuts are tight on the fuse block at the top of the battery. Thanks.

Hey, some wise fellow once told me it might be the thermostat. 😉

I had this same problem on a 17 Canyon. Code would show up randomly & they never could figure it out. It was warranty, so I didn't care. Ended up trading it in with the problem never being resolved. Interesting 🤔

I’ve seen that on the 3.6L Canyon with a failed coolant thermostat similar to the 19 Acadia thermostat video I recently uploaded. Thanks for sharing.
