Lyrics:
Please die Ana
For as long as you're here we're not
You make the sound of laughter
and sharpened nails seem softer
And I need you now somehow
And I need you now somehow
Open fire on the needs designed
On my knees for you
Open fire on my knees desires
What I need from you
Imagine pageant
In my head the flesh seems thicker
Sandpaper tears corrode the film
And I need you now somehow
And I need you now somehow
Open fire on the needs designed
On my knees for you
Open fire on my knees desires
What I need from you
And you're my obsession
I love you to the bones
And Ana wrecks your life
Like an Anorexia life
Open fire on the needs designed
On my knees for you
Open fire on my knees desires
What I need from you
Open fire on the needs designed
Open fire on my knees desires
On my knees for you

Haranya Skyyat yea sure it sold 6 million albums but for the kind of album Frogstomp is, it should be compared to anything the big 4, Soundgarden Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam and Nirvana came out with. Frogstomp should stand as more of a benchmark for 90's grunge/rock scene, which it never really was. It's an underrated album for what it is, not in terms of record sales.

Same but different. I have purging issues no bineging or anorexia issues. I'm not ready to recover but I know I have too. I've done a fair bit of damage from it and my shrinks like it has to be now and I know it has to be now but I'm just not ready to stop. I don't want to stop yet. I don't really care that I've done damage, I don't care about the pain from the damage, I don't care if I die. I'm just not ready yet.

When I was 14 and bulimic and anorexic I would ball my eyes out this song. I was all alone in my battle. I looked up an eating disorder therapist and begged my mom to take me. The therapist understood me. The first time an adult ever actually listened to me and validated me. Then she wanted to speak with my mom about my needs. My mom cannot take any criticism and ended up yelling at her and storming off. She yelled “ You will never see that woman again!” Yes, the reason for my eating disorder, alcoholic and drug abuse, depression and suicidal ideation in my youth primarily stemmed from my emotionally absent narcissist mother. I still am haunted by that memory to this day. Now at 38 I listen to this as I battle serious illness, brain and spinal injury all on my own as a single mom. Life is fucking brutal.

This is easily one of the saddest yet most beautiful songs ever written in my opinion. Silverchair was far far to underrated and still to this day in 2019 I listen to their music and still feel the same feelings for their music as I did in the early 90s when I was a teenager and they came on the scene. When my mom introduced me to this song when I was doing through my Anorexia phase (I sometimes go back through it) she told me to listen to this song and after a while I understood she was trying to tell me, it’s ok to eat and that it’s not healthy to rely on being skinny and not eating. Hence the open fire, she told me that he struggled with his body too and I was like “wow, I have someone I can relate to now.” 17 years old and supposed to be taking depression pills, but I’m trying to get better on my own. It’s a struggle really but I try.

I am actually going to an eating disorder program very soon to correct a lot of long term effects of trauma, one of them, eating disorders. I know this will sound cliche, but someone who does this will do poorly in other relationships if he fails to see how this could hurt you. Way to go, Daniel! We're still with you all these years later. I hope you have fully recovered and are living the good life again. For many who don't know. Daniel John's battles anorexia and he wrote this song while getting treatment in rehab for his anorexia. Most of this album was written about his battle with anorexia and bulimia. Very sad. But the songs are absolutely masterpieces.

I too have struggled with anorexia Nervosa for most of my life, over 20 years. I am also in recovery. This is, by far, my most favorite track by Silverchair. I have written poetic works surrounding my battle with Anorexia, it was a dire situation. I was hospitalized with fellow anorexic friends. May the Goddess protect us in our journey in recovery, and know, we are not alone. 💙 🎧 💙 🙏

This song came out around the same time I was battling anorexia. I was 19. Went from 140lbs to 97lbs in less than a year. This song helped me through it. Over time I forgot about Silverchair. I am glad that at 43, I have reconnected with their music. Always love this album however, it’s so unfortunate that Diorama escaped my peripheral at the time of its release in the U.S. Daniel Johns is an amazing singer, songwriter and producer. A true artist. Much love, respect and support for this man. ❤️

Pretty courageous to bare you soul like this especially as a world famous person. Inspirational for anyone who has suffered from eating disorders, mental problems, disabilities, drug addiction etc… I know today everything is classified as some illness so drug companies can make money but to actually know what it is to be knocking on deaths door for an illness that will take your life & to know how hard this must of been for Daniel johns to sing live etc… no wonder the success of the band, not many people can do this.

That key change for the chorus is basically a tritone modulation from Bb major/G minor to E major, but it’s made much smoother by using the V of Bb major as a sort of chromatic neighbor going from Bb-F--E. The shift from the major plagal cadence to the minor plagal cadence from the vocal line in the chorus is very cool as well. These guys were growing by leaps and bounds on this album.
