Nah they have enough in common to not be treated as chalk and cheese. Abuse me and freak are particularly similar to Nirvana songs with the riff in freak being the same chords as come as you are I'm pretty sure. Also in frogstomp at times Daniels vocal style is spot on like Kurt's, however they didn't deserve the hate for it though because with the release of Neon ballroom they proved that they could really have their own sound that still holds up incredibly well and even stands out today. Silverchair as a whole were objectively better than Nirvana anyway, they were doing it younger, their lyrics actually made sense, Daniel is leagues above Kurt in terms of vocals and is a considerably better guitar player and they just sound better in general.
