This is awesome, thank you so much for this one. Like always, amazing tutorials. I have a quick question though. Is there a way to make the triplanar projection work for Displacement? Thanks again!
@SilverwingVFX Жыл бұрын
Hey there, thank you very much for the nice words. Unfortunately since Octanes Diaplacement is dependend on mesh UVs. Tripanar only works if you set the Displacement to VertexDisplacement. nfortunately it can make the scene really heavy since it generates all the vertexes to do proper detailed displacement on the objects (Subdivs Number)

Hi, how can i make triplanar work with a gradient?

Hey hey and thank you very much for your answer. Unfortunately this is to little information to produce any reasonable answer. Could you please elaborate what you are trying to do? Cheers

Can triplaners work as displacements?
@SilverwingVFX Жыл бұрын
Hey there and thank you for your question. Triplanar only works with Vertex Displacement. The default displacement needs UVs to work.
@Ross_Garden Жыл бұрын
@@SilverwingVFX Thank you for taking the time to reply, Raphael. The displacement in Octane seems very limited by this, and I can never figure out a solution apart from going back to displace the geometry. BTW, love your tutorials, work and textures!

does it work good with normal maps? using triplanar with normal maps resulting just as same as box projection only
@SilverwingVFX9 ай бұрын
It works decently with normal maps. You have to make sure that your object has somewhat decent UV mapping. Therefore I set all my materials that I Triplanar map to Cubic Mapping in the C4D Material Tag. Through the underlying UVs the Shader knows how to orient the Normal map correctly.
@jkartz929 ай бұрын
isn't triplanar used to avoid uv creations? @@SilverwingVFX
@SilverwingVFX9 ай бұрын
@@jkartz92 It´s not about the UVs per se. Its about orientation in 3D space. Here´s the long version of it 😇 Normals are vectors. They encode the 3 axis XYZ in the RG and B colors. The Normals we use in 3D software are usually tangent space Normals. This means the Z axis is the Normal direction of the Polygon. To get that bumpy sensation you need directions to angle that Z Axis. So some sort of anchor is needed to tell the the normal where to place the X and Y axis next to the Z. And this is was the UV map is providing the normal map with. This does not mean you have to create UVs on your Object. A simple cubic projection in C4Ds Material tag is enough to provide usable UV coordinates that are not flipped to all polys of the object. Hope this makes it a little more understandable. Cheers 😊

I tried but still the issue persists! BTW i'm using octane in blender! Another doubt is that, how to remove pixelation with bump map renders? In blender we use an option called "cubic" instead of linear. Any such settings available in octane?

Yeaaaaaaaaa we are going to have to ask you to.... . zip and upload your C4D_Daten folder... That would be greeeeeat....... **as said by lumberg** OR at least tell us what you think the most valuable stock assets are to have and where to purchase!
