My favourite thing about this channel is how many men are so excited about having bad ass hairstyles! It's good.

This is pure awesome...totally going to try this once I get my hair a bit longer. I really appreciate that you take care of us guys with inventive (yet badass) styles, unlike 99.9% of other channels dedicated to hair. Plus most of the guys who talk about hair (and there are not many) don't really know what they are doing anyway. Keep it up!

There needs to be more long hair tutorials for men. There needs to be more long haired men. With full beards. None of that "manscaping" bullshit either. If a man chooses less hair for himself, that's one thing, but too many dudes groom themselves to someone else's standards. Some of the best looking men I know are hairy, and they're beautiful human beings apart from looks, too.

This channel helped me get a fantastic hair - as a man - and it's fun to be able to do these things. I'm Norse myself and I personally think it fits me great. I have wavy/curly hair and I get too hot/especially when sleeping, so I always cut my hair short. But finally I found something that is "me". Thank you! I'd post a picture here if I wasn't cautious about public info. Just one thing: Ragnar's - and many others in the show - have the cut line much further up, about where most people will have the bump. Or nearby. The braid will look aesthetically better and "flow" in a continuous angle/bend all the way from the front of your head. Instead of any indents at the back. Also, I shave to 2-3 mm. on the sides of course and sport a beard. I have thick hair. Holy crap you have to have long hair to get a braid"tail" as fat as Ragnar's when done this way. Mine is less than half the width I think and I have hair a bit further down than my shoulders.
@SebHaarfagre3 жыл бұрын
I just realized "as Ragnar's" doesn't say much, I mean, when he has the bands later on in the show and a long braidtail.

I have taken watched & used this Tutorial for My Husband & Son, They Both Love it.. I still Suck-A$$ at french braids, but I'm getting better, it holds in both of their hair for the whole week, even with out Gel(which isn't necessarily the same when my Son has had his hair professionally cornrowed). We are a very active family, & it holds up to my sons Taekwon-Do, and our Hat & Hood use(which has been necessary these last few weeks with temperatures running down to -40 Celsius & Fahrenheit). As long as the braids remain I can reset the middle section & the length again after brush outs & showers on the particularly difficult weeks.

I just watched the Vikings Season 2 premiere, so I was so excited to see you do this! (I probably shouldn't be wearing men's hairstyle, but...) I love the way you did the top, I saw someone do it with Dutch braids instead, and I prefer this. Do you have any idea how they got so much height on his braids? Mine seem so flat in comparison, though I think his just might look really tall in contrast with the shaved sides.

Thanks so much for this, easy(as it gets) to follow, been tying my hair in knots for a while for lack of french braid skills.

I shake the hand of the man that can pull this off on his own. With all my might and powers I can not produce the amount of hand eye out of body experience coordination required to do this to my hair. You need an assistant for this. I braid my hair in a single low braid daily. This would be cool but expensive as I would need to pay a stylist to have the patience to make this work. Very sad I have the hair and beard to pull the look off.
@sophiejones77276 жыл бұрын
don't give up! keep practicing! It's actually not hand-eye coordination though, as you can't see the braid very well even in a mirror if it's on top of your head. You need to learn how the braid sections feel in your hands. You can practice the finger movements for braiding by using yarn, which is easier as it's not attached to your head. Start by doing little accent braids on the side of your head. This is easier because you can see them, so you don't have to do everything by touch. Then try a simple braid once with your eyes closed, pick a morning when you don't have to be anywhere in case it goes horribly wrong. If you can do that, then you're ready to start braiding on the top of your head or behind it. It will be slow at first, but you'll get quicker the more you practice. If you know any ladies, or fellow long-haired men, ask if they will let you practice the style on their hair. take a photo and bring it with you for reference. That way, you can get a better feel for things like how much hair to take for each braid. And never be afraid to ask if you get stuck on something! It would be a real shame if you didn't wear this style, you really do have the perfect look for it.

***** Oh, Fullmetal Alchemist is a good one! I prefer the manga as it's a bit darker and grittier (although they have a truer-to-the-manga version of Fullmetal called Brotherhood which I haven't seen.)
@silvousplaits11 жыл бұрын
KateandZena Brotherhood is the one I'm watching! It's only in Japanese with English dubs but I've heard it's much better than the one in English.
@KateandBree11 жыл бұрын
***** The one that is available in English isn't bad. It's different as it isn't as true to the manga. It isn't as dark you could say (the manga is very dark as it's consistently dealing with how much would you give to get a life back.) It diverts a bit because, well, it was being written at the same time the manga was still being written and finished; since animation storylines go faster, it wasn't as true to the storyline. Brotherhood was written after the manga was completed, so it's probably as dark as the manga. Sloth is the biggest difference between the animes. In Brotherhood and the manga, Sloth is a man; in the 2003 series, Sloth is portrayed as the Elric brother's failed attempt of bringing back their mother. There have been a few speculations at to what happened to their mother when they tried to bring her back, but I don't remember if the author ever fully confirmed what happened to her. (I haven't read the full manga in a few years!)

I have hair down to my scapulas and I want to do something with it but it doesn't separate as easily as yours does. If I want to take a chunk of hair and split it into two, I have to spend about a minute working it until I finally have two groups(it's extremely clingy and staticy, even though I brush/comb it, it still feels like a tangled mess when working with it). I can't just grab a chunk of hair and "tada!" ready to do something with it, no, I have to spend a while working it out. See, this becomes a problem when I'm supposed to take a smaller chunk and split it into three smaller groups of hair to begin braiding it. It just doesn't let me, I would need 6 hands, a pair for each group, slowly going through/untangling it and making it ready to be worked with before I can even begin to attempt braiding it. I'm not sure if this is because of me being a complete novice, difficult hair, or both at the same time. What can I do do practice, where should I begin?
@silvousplaits6 жыл бұрын
Are you brushing out your hair before starting to braid? Do you have a lot of split ends? The longer your hair is, the more likely uneven and coarse ends are to act like velcro and hold on to each other. Regular trims, an even hairline, and pre-brushing help with that.
@ReckoningGD6 жыл бұрын
@@silvousplaits Yes to all! I might have to do a short trim to prevent splitting, I think I need to trim it more often in general. I suspect I have a lot of split ends. How often should one trim, every other month or so?
@silvousplaits6 жыл бұрын
@@ReckoningGD There are different strategies you could take to trimming, actually. What most people do is cut off a small amount, maybe a centimeter, every 4-6 weeks when you go to get a haircut. But there are also some people with long hair who advocate for the techniques called "hair dusting," or "search and destroy." For the former, you hold a section of hair very taught and essentially snip off only the ends of broken hairs that stick up out of this section (and then do a micro trim on the ends). For the later, you look through all your hair specifically for split ends and then trim those off only as far up as the split goes. Both are done more frequently than a normal trim, and are more time consuming but they can be done at home if you buy a pair of sharp hair sheers.
