What I love about simcity is this one. They have unique sound for each building.

This is part of the reason why all of the SimCity games were loved and so good, including myself; sound effects and music plays a pretty big part in computer and video games overall. These SimCity distinctive, atmospheric, and charming building query and ploppable sfx (and the sfx in general) is certainly a huge part of what Cities: Skylines lacks near completely. It's frustrating now that it is the defacto [and certainly a fantastic and my current] city builder / simulator and Maxis no longer exists. Sure, you can zoom in near certain buildings to hear semi-distinctive 'ambient' style sfx emanating from them but then you also hear the general soundscape in real time / live with the absolutely fcking terrible / disgusting european sirens and other bits of weird, off, or other european sfx; thankfully SOME of these sfx can be replaced using the Ambient Sounds Tuner 2.0 mod + a separately obtainable sounds pack. It surprisingly still works at the time and date of this comment despite not having been updated for a while, but it doesn't add a custom building query / ploppable sfx system to emulate SimCity's system. Anyway, the majority of the time a player won't be zooming in to spectate closely, they'll be playing the game from far above the city, which is why SimCity's sfx system was superior -- C:S should have both systems out of the box. I highly doubt Maxis or EA filed a patent for it or can make a DMCA claim against CO / Paradox Interactive IF they imitated something so trivial compared to the sum of the product, despite admittedly acknowledging how mor0nic the USPTO and DMCA is with software and patent trolls. It's fcking 2022, six years since release, and no one has thought of or had the expertise / patience to build and PUBLISH a mod that provides a sfx framework to emulate SimCity's sfx system, nor an updated and functional custom UI framework version of the Sapphire / Quartz mod to modify the look of the UI, which is also markedly worse than SimCity. I love vanilla and modded C:S overall, but it's VERY annoying that such a modular game doesn't have someone that can bring one of SimCity's biggest low-key draws to C:S or even an official update / DLC to add it. At least, as you'll see below, music receives BOTH options. C:S's vanilla music (before the radio station update IIRC) has its own kind of distinctiveness or ambience, but I'm not fond of it enough to warrant hearing it over and over. This became an issue of variety more so than the music itself, therefore they added a radio station system via an update with a few new radio stations. You can also buy the numerous Music pack / Radio stations DLC for FAR BETTER music like the Jazz and Calming radio stations (very SimCity vibe) and / or go to the steam workshop for the CSL Mod + all of the SimCity series music packs to integrate into the C:S radio station interface. So on this front, C:S fully redeems itself officially and by the community, and is in-fact superior to SimCity's music system, but not at release / pre-radio station update. This is all to say that SimCity's spiritual successor, Cites: Skylines and its potential future series, NEEDS exactly what this video portrays and more.

Something about that Microwave Power Plant is SO satisifying. I also worked at a landfill for a short time and all I could think of was that slop sound followed by flies hahaha
