Love the surprise review. I figure it was a quick surprise for you too :). I know we can look up the price and alternative options in the SiMagic range, but I don't think you mentioned the Mini/Ultimate or the actual price. I run a Fanatec DD2. I'm happy, but I don't know any better. Glad you mentioned the NRG QR compatibility. Perhaps mentioning it's universality both in terms of connection style (which you did) and in terms of 70mm PCD spacing has value. Every wheel base review should take a moment to bash Fanatec's requirement for a hub to get to third party wheels. :) Keep up the good work, and big ups to WookieOH for lending it to you fresh outta the box. I'd have dirtied it up myself before lending it to ya.

Yeah I forgot to mention. I do many times focus on the product, I forget to give the price. I’m not a spec guy more a feel guy. Lol. Yeah I have bashed Fanatec’s QR before. No need to bash a companies that failed and was bought out. We know what happened. Hahaha. As momma would say, no need to beat a dead horse. lol. And yes, thanks to Wookie for letting me borrow this for a while to test.

It is a really good base, Not a fan of their pedals or wheels, but the base is top notch. Their mounting solution is weird tho...

I have the vrs also. Is there a feeling difference between servo and midge motor?
@grayzedynamics4 ай бұрын
I think Servo motors are slightly smoother but I like the gritty feeling of the VRS. Feels like I am really in a car. Something about mige I am starting to like more.

Hey do you think it would be a good upgrade from the alpha mini? It is acctually 18nm peak. Simagic uses the average torque rating. The mini gets up to 13nm. But want to upgrade from mini and not sure if I should just go ultimate or regular alpha.
@grayzedynamics3 ай бұрын
Well that depends on how happy you are with your Mini. Do you just need more torque around center, is 13nm too little? Or do you just want the extra? I think if I am going to spend the money and I am upgrading, I have the buy once cry once mentality. So if its in the budget, get the best you can afford. However, the Alpha is a really good base, but what do you not like about the Mini?
@bradmccombs39253 ай бұрын
@grayzedynamics I like the mini but it doesn't seem to have enough overhead. Can't get the perfect mix of torque and detail. It seems to get the detail just right you need to run under the base capability. If you are running it at its max you loose detail. So I'm assuming that can be scaled up. I was recently looking into the new VNM direct drive. It looks like a beast. I just don't see people reviewing it yet.
@grayzedynamics3 ай бұрын
Yeah, that is why I upgraded to the VRS base from my Moza R9. If you are in the Simagic ecosystem, than it is worth the upgrade for sure. If I were in your shoes, I would save up for the Ultimate and just get the best wheelbase they offer rather than the middle of the field upgrade. The VNM looks good, but if you are in Simagic, you can get the 27 and be more than happy. And if you are in the states and close to a Microcenter, you can grab in store.
@bradmccombs39253 ай бұрын
@grayzedynamics I have been excited to go to a micfo center. It's about an hour away in new jersey. Or the one in NYC. I'm waiting until I have the funds for a pc upgrade too. Lol.

@reviewforthetube64853 ай бұрын
Well I never expected this! Now you gotta try the ultimate! Even though its not actually needed lol. Love mine though so good. The best part of simagic is the snap. Wheelspeed up really helps that and allows for more response. You know ive tried alot of wheelbases the simagic is amazing. Something unique about its feel. I use very little filters. No damepning no inirtia. Wheelpseed maxed out. Turn off the other effects section Top right turn those down. Turn up torque and enhoy. Seems to give me the bounciest snappiest most detailed experience.
@grayzedynamics3 ай бұрын
Nice. I really liked the base. It's really good and feels nice. Buddy of mine let me borrow it. I can easily recommend and it drives nice. Found a good setting and was able to drive like a champ.
@reviewforthetube64853 ай бұрын
@@grayzedynamics yeah its fantastic! The mini is great for people who don't need alot. Tbh I'm buying a mini for my competative races. I've found I like 8nm to 10nm for competative play. You know I use alot more just playing around. I've found with the ultimate it almost has to much headroom when using 8 to 10nm it's hard to get to the edge of clipping which is where the most detail is at. Right before clipping is maximum details. So I want a mini to compete with in lower nm. I'm a bit quicker at 8 to 10nm. But its funny at 15+nm 😉
@grayzedynamics3 ай бұрын
OH.. You are in love with that base for sure. Are you going to get another setup, rig and all?
@reviewforthetube64853 ай бұрын
@grayzedynamics naw probably just switch the base out when wanted. I'm torn though it's 12nm asetke or 10nm alpha mini. I main acc and we'll my last experience with asetek on acc wasnt the best. It felt tight like a band tight. It didn't feel natural or floaty. Just overly stiff. Like a dead weight not ffb weight. I'm not the only one who has said it doesn't feel right in acc either. So yeah hard choice. Maybe they ironed it out by now idk.
@grayzedynamics3 ай бұрын
Ahh gotcha. That makes sense. Swap out when needed or necessary. I havent tried the 12nm Asetek so I could not say and ACC has a higher than most FFB, so it can make some bases feel iffy. Although I wonder if tuning and updates have helped. If you like Simagic, I would stick to what you know and like.

@AdHocAtomАй бұрын
I would go with Simagic, I REALLY wanted the VRS but they are a mess, their Black Friday sale created higher prices than the Boosted code was. I intended to buy the 9nm upgradable unit from VRS, emailed them confirming things and then they raised the price by $50 the following day, they never answer their phone either, always busy. I would avoid them honestly, the Simagic Alpha was $530 to my door vs $705 (after code) on the 15nm VRS, that's a lot of money to put towards other gear. You will get much more unit for your money with the Simagic and it won't feel like little kids are running the business!
