That’s really surprising to hear some words which we also have in Russian 😀, like findik - фундук (hazelnut), not to say that tea sounds exactly the same “чай” 😊 and one false friend - Russian “табак” means tobacco, but sounds just like your plate 😅 Such an interesting crossover episode, thank you! 🌟👏😀

for your interest; turkish is influenced by arabic and persian because they have been used in literature and science in ottoman times (like english today). but there is a turkic language spoken by people. so most of the words also has a turkic correspondence. that is why there is a chapter in turkish lessons like "the words with same meaning" and "the words with same sound". for instance: çehre (persian), surat (arabic) and yüz (turkic) are all used for "face" in turkish. Or we use "yaşam" (turkish), "ömür" (arabic) and "hayat" (arabic) for "life". On the other hand there is a word "kar" in turkish which means "snow" (turkic word translation) and "benefit" (persian word translation). but you can also use the turkic word "kazanç" which is used for "benefit".

The alphabet was the same until the 1930s, which in a way explains the many words in common. Because when Turkish was written in Arabic it did acquire a huge number of Arabic and Persian loanwords, and then when they switched to the Latin alphabet they needed to simply respell those words using the Latin alphabet the way they spoke them in Turkish.

Thank you for the interesting video! I was thinking of: vakit - وقت; zaman - زمن; saniye - ثانية; mekân - مكان; fikir - فكرة; zeki - ذكي; cuma - جمعة; sene - سنة; zannetmek - ظن (+ etmek); tekrar - تكرار; iktisat - اقتصاد, and that's what comes to my mind for now :) One question: is "hafta" likely to come from the Farsi word "haft", which stands for "7"? Thank you :)

Ottoman Turkish grammar system is Turkic(Agnulative, SOV system, there is no Arabic influenced grammar). Only Arabic and Persian loanwords. Actually, Ottoman poet language's vocabulary is mix of Turkish, Arabic, Persian. Ottoman speak language are different. Example(Ottoman Turkish poet) Kamu(tr) bîmârına(fr) cânân(fr) deva-yı(arb) derd(arb) eder(tr) ihsan(arb) Niçün(tr) kılmaz(tr) baña(tr) dermân(fr) beni(tr) bîmarı(fr) sanmaz(tr) mı(tr) Grammar system is Turkish. Morphology, Syntax, Phonetic are Turkish. Only loanwords: bîmâr(Frs), cânân(Frs), devâ(Arb), derd(Arb), ihsan(Arb), derman(Frs). Morphology: Bimar(fr loanword)+ ına(Turkish dative cases) Ottaman speak language and Ottoman write lang. are also more Turkish vocabulary. Loanwords are less. Example(Novel from Ottoman Era[1870]) "Osman amcanın kayığı iki çifte, yeñi, geñiş, güzel bir kayıktı. Yozefino ile dadı arkaya oturarak Râkım dahi Canan ile ön tarafa oturdular. Herkes arkasına birer kürk giymiş ve dizleri üzerine dahi ihram almış olduklarından, sabahın serinliğinden bir güne şikayet edilmeye mahal yoktu."

@@absher786 urdu yes, turkish no. Turkish belongs to the turkic family. Grammatically speaking I would say Arabic is much closer to indo-european than turkish. Phonologically yes Arabic has a lot of uncommon sounds that just don't exist in turkish, persian or urdu.

Well done guys! Very good Job. If you allow me please I can add on the three points you made the following: I can add "excuse me" in Turkish comes from Afwo in Arabic, Memnoon in Turkish is Mamnoon in Arabic, Shukaran = tashakur, Lutfan = Lutfan but in Arabic means gently or kindly which makes it used as Please in Turkish. There are more too. The Alphabet, actually were Arabic until the Kemalists or the Nationalists adopted the Latin Alphabet when they tried to cover the Islamic and Pan Islamic identity of Turkey. Well, wether you love or hate nationalism which in my opinion didn't really - from history - lead to any good to the nationalists except isolationism, wars and defeats, the Turkish nationlists succeeded in getting rid of many many many Arabic words in Turkish which was the Ottoman Turikish yet they couldn't totally succeed in that for sure. About the grammar, yes it must be different as Turkish is an Asian Sino-based according to some studies as all the proto types of it come from near-Monglia language and Arabic is a Semitic old language that influenced many different languages ranging from Turkic languages, Latin based languages ( Spainsh, Portuguese and even French and Italian), Farsi and Hebrew which is a semitic language by itself, germanic languages such as English has lots and lots of words borrowed from Arabic as well.

I guess only you Arabs are allowed to be nationalist, huh? When all muslim nations except Arabs give importance to their values, languages, cultures and alphabets, you call this anti-Islamism. Nobody has to keep or use your language, words, alphabet or culture because of Islam. Pls, do not open your mouth without knowing Turkish history and language well. There were two different Turkish languages in the Ottoman period. One was the Ottoman Turkish spoken and written in the palace by the elites. The other was public Turkish used by the people. While Ottoman Turkish contained 88% Arabic-Persian words, public Turkish was pure Turkish except a few Arabic-Persian loanwords. Today, when an average Turk reads poems or texts written in Ottoman Turkish from 16th, 17th,18th century, (s)he doesn't understand more than half. However, (s)he understands poems and writings written in folk Turkish without any difficulty. Also, such a language difference between the people and the state was a big problem for people and language. People already had difficulty reading and writing because the Arabic alphabet didn't fit the Turkish language. And the fact that official language of the state also contained that much foreign words was making things worse. When Ottoman Empire collapsed and Republic of Turkey was found, Kemalists and nationalists in your words lol, made public Turkish as the official language of state instead of Arabic-Persian-Turkish mix langauge called Ottoman Turkish.

@@birdost5781 You are not ethnically Turkish, and your culture is not Turkish. The real Turks are Kazakhstan and Uyghurs, they are Tatars and Mongols. As for you, your culture is Arab and Persian. The real Turkish language did not spread in Anatolia or Istanbul. The Ottoman language was a mixture of Arabic, Persian and Kurdish. As for reading, printing is prohibited, and there are no schools or universities to teach reading. My grandmother did not know how to read during the period of Ottoman rule. As for treason, we are in the Levant, Egypt and North Africa, with the exception of Morocco. We handed over our lands to the Ottoman Caliphate for a period of 400 years, and the result was compulsory conscription into the Janissary army. High taxes, ban on printing. There is no Ottoman trace in the Levant or Egypt except for castles, forts, and military sites. The truth is that you resemble the Arabs in Iraq and Syria, but your racism against the Syrians gave us a bad impression towards you. Did you know that in southern Turkey, especially in Gaziantep, Diyarbakir, Iskenderun and Antakya, these are Syrian areas occupied by Turkey, and most of its inhabitants are Syrian and Kurdish families. You consider yourselves a different race from Arabs and Persians. Well, go and do a DNA test and you will see the result, or ask your grandparents about your family and you will discover that you are either from a Syrian, Kurdish, Persian, Albanian, Greek, Circassian or Armenian family.

Lots of Turks do have turkic ancestry, and some don't have because they aren't Turks they are for example kurds, zaza, armenian, Laz, Bosnian, Albanian, Arabs from Hatay and gypsies.... Majority of Turkish people do also have ancient indo European Anatolian ancestors like hittites, urartu or Lydians, even the Turks coming from central Asia. Even in central Asia, people look eurasian. We have Greek ancestors, but we don't have Arab or Persian ancestors. Our culture is byzance heritage with turkic culture. That's Turks who ruled Arabs and that's you who stole some of our foods, our flag and her byzance music. Persian and Turks never was close, even the kurds of Türkiye don't know very much of Iran.

@@qusaiyounis-gz6tkwe don't look like Arabs, the place you said isn't called south it's called southeast and people there are different from other regions . Only in southeast there were Arabs but that doesn't mean that Turkish people from western Anatolia, from thracia, from northeastern Anatolia, from eastern Anatolia are similar to the specific frontier you talk! I did 4 DNA test and I have ZERO ancestors from north Africa or Levant countries or Arabian peninsular, I have Zero Arab relatives. Arab race is different from Persian and others. Arab are semite people, they aren't indo Europeans like Persians or Germans! That's not because some Turks were forced to convert to Islam that's means we are the same as you, we have more in common with greeks and armenians than you but as I said lots of us do have turkic ancestors from central Asia and that's our Turkish culture which won! Turkish culture is unixque. Besides you arabs, you arabized lots of your minorities even the blacks. You also raped circassian, Spanish, crusaders, Italian and janissary (balkanian), so we can't say their descendants represent the Arabian look.

The closest language to Arabic is not Turkish but Hebrew. The fact that Turkish uses some Arabic loan words doesn't mean they are similar. Turkish is not a Semitic language. Try to compare it with Uzbek, Kazakh, Uyghur, etc. Arabic inherited a lot from older Semitic languages. Akraba? It is so funny. It is as if Turks never had relatives before they encountered Arabic. How did they say love before they entered the Ask era? 😄 Do not Arabize Turkish or Turkize Arabic. Each language has its own flavor. Enjoy it.
