Thank you :) Really appreciate the lovely message. We picked a name for the baby that is both used as Canadian and Iranian name. There is a version of it used in Persian. Her name will be Serena, in Persian we say "Sarina". She's due in mid-April, so we'd like to introduce her in a future video this summer :)

A lot of our students are from Afghanistan and speak Dari, and despite telling me they don't speak each other's language, the Afghan students seem to be having small, successful conversations with the new student. Is the overlap merely lexical, since both languages are not from the same language family? Again, thank you for the great video!

Also Seljuk Turks used the Farsi for administration around 11th century, that left a huge mark on Turkish and you could say Turkish left a mark on Farsi also. Main reason was Farsi has some different letters than Arabic. By than using Arabic alphabet was causing some issues. And Turks started using Arabic alphabet around 9th century, before they were using Orhun Alphabet

Hi, I'm Iranian and I live in one of the North Western cities of Iran where we also speak Turkish (But not exactly the "Turkish" used in Turkey or Azerbaijan or other countries where they use Turkish, though there are lots of similarities) and since our national language is Farsi/Persian we know that too! (I actually grew up learning both Farsi and Turkish) We also learn Arabic (Of course not professionally) and English (this as well to some extent) at school! And as English is an international language many people pursue it (besides learning it at school) to the extent which they can manage to live in a foreign country or do other things! (Which I did! (^_^)) I personally started learning Turkish (the one used in the video) when I was 8 through TV shows and songs and I have to say that learning different languages helps you a lot even in your own language! For example you may come across a word you don't know the definition of, but if you know for example Turkish you can get through it! These similarities really get me excited and make me even go further and try to learn other ones too! By the way, thank you for the video. I really enjoyed it! 👍 خیلی قشنگه دیدن همچین ویدئو هایی 😢 Love to everyone all around the world! ❤ Hepinize saygılar! 😊

Finally the video i have been waiting for :) Persian is a very rich language, that we cannot just leave Persian origin words in Turkish and replace them with original Turkish words. I think most of these words on video are Persian origin, some of them can be replaced with other Turkish words like "Milliyet" with "Ulus". Also the persian origin words are usualy used for some specific situation, not for common words in Turkish. It is amazing how languages in two different language families can affect each other so much edit: actualy ulus mean nation not nationality, that was my mistake

So interesting that not a lot of people actually realize why it is like that. The main reason is that Turkic people that migrated from central asia made a great team with persians. Dozens of empires are there in east that has perso-turkic origin and millions of turkic and persians live in one country for centuries. It will be even more similar if you would do a similarity between azeri-turkic and persian. These two languages influenced each other more than any two languages out there in the world.
