Angan Debnath O sorry, yes, you're right. Indo-Iranian is the wider group, under which is Indo-Aryan or Indic family (Hindi, Urdu, etc) and Iranian family (Persian, Kurdish, etc). I thought Indo-Iranian and Iranian was the same, sorry.

Adi Adiani...."mix-up of Persian and Hindi"? "Aryans are fake"? LOL. You are one talking bullshit. Hindi was made up from Urdu. Urdu emerged from the usage of Persian vocabulary to Sauraseni Prakrit spoken around Delhi-Haryana-Awadh. It was also called Hindi ("of India"), Hindavi ("of Indians") or Hindustani ("of India"). Standard Hindi was created from Urdu by Sanskritization of the vocabulary. Aryans existed and they came to India, they were a mixed group of different races who lived all over Europe, Persia and India. Compare Indian Vedic language with Persian Avestan language and you can see all the similarities e.g. some examples of common vocabulary are "deva" (godly beings), "panch/panj" (five), "kshatra" (sovereign), "yajna/yasna" (sacrifice) and so on.
@AshrafAnam
@AshrafAnam 6 жыл бұрын
Adi Adiani No, both Indians living in the northern part and Iranians have Aryan gene. You can't run away from facts. "Aryavarta" means "Realm of the Aryans" which is between the Himalayas and the Vindhayas. Some examples of common vocabulary are "deva" (godly beings), "panch/panj" (five), "kshatra" (sovereign), "yajna/yasna" (sacrifice) and so on between Indian Vedic language and Persian Avestan language.

It's not because of the same root. It's because of Mughals, Mughals used Persian as their official language and made Urdu, which is a mix of Persian and Local dialects of North-India at that time. Hindi is Urdu which uses Sanskrit(devanagari) script and has Sanskrit words in it.

Old Farsi is related to Sanskrit to begin with. The word "Jaan" vs. "Jeevan" this is not Urdu. Neither are the numbers which are basically the same. Avestan the language of Ancient Iran is nearly 99% the same as Sanskrit. And, Urdu as well comes Prakrit which in turn is from Sanskrit. The Arabic loan words in Hindi came via Persian. Persian if purified without Arabic loan words one again becomes similar to pure Hindi. The languages are related at a very deep level no matter how you analyze it. Iran is North India's closest lingual relative in the world.

Baba Vickram Aditya Bedi that is great that our counterparts in India know this as well! Yes ancient Avestan and Sanskrit were sister languages that were practically identical for except the “s” and “h” (ie khvar/svar = sun). Actually, Southern Indian languages (Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil [somewhat less]) have many Sanskrit words. Speakers of these languages, especially Malayalam, Kannada, and Telugu, use many more Sanskrit words in daily speech compared to people who speak Northern Indian languages. Many of the words that are said in this video as "Hindi" are more Persian-derived. For example, the real Hindi way to say kindness is "daya" (दया), alive is "jeevit" (जीवित), perhaps is "kadaachit" (कदाचित), and child is baalak (बालक).

Pure Hindi (Sanskritised/ standard version ) is not spoken in India. If someone does it , people sense it strange . Its is reserved for literature and formal / religious uses of the language. People in Hindi speaking areas of India speak hindustani ( a mixture of standard Hindi and urdu words). It's similar in south indian languages. Many sanskrit words have been Incorporated into malayalam , Tamil , Telugu and kannada through ancient literature and religious texts and still used for literature / religious and formal uses. For eg standard malayalam words like akasham , shareeram , nayanam , jalam , pushpam , pakshi, sundaram, phalam , shila, suryan , agni, roopam , daya, pooja, bhagavan , shishyan, guru , pithavu ,puthran , mathavu , krpa, dhyanam ,sagaram are found in standard Hindi and other south indian languages exactly same or with slight modification. Native malayalam speakers rarely use these terms in informal speech and use dravidian substitute words instead.

Urdu is Indian and so is Hindi and Bengali. People speak the words interchangeably in India without giving too much importance to where it’s origin is. We are very inclusive in India and don’t consider any language a threat to our identity or culture. It’s pretty sad to see people saying that this lady is using only Urdu words, and not Hindi - I don’t think Indians or people speaking Hindi are saying that. I think people who think they are “proper” Urdu speakers and don’t have an iota of what Hindi is or how it’s spoken in India are saying so.

It cannot be the MOTHER of all languages because Indo-European is simply a branch of languages. And no, Sanskrit was not the mother of them. In fact, Proto-Indo-European was a language spoken by the Aryan nomads of the Steppes. Some groups migrated to India, developed Sanskrit. Some migrated to Europe and developed the many European languages. The Mother of European languages would be Latin. With the exception of language isolates like Greek. Please study linguistics.

comeon man, don't you know that Hindi is as old as Urdu? and in some cases you can find urdu in older texts than hindi, both of them derived from khari boli which was created by Mughals, maybe you're confusing hindi with sanskrit, if thats the case then yeah sanskrit is ancient language but not hindi, you should know about your own history though

Shahzaib .Q I am a Jat and I belong to Rajasthan (area which touches Haryana) and right now living in Delhi. This implies that I come from the community which speak Khari boli. Sorry to disappoint you Khari boli was never created by Mughals because it's a local language only used by Hindus specifically Jats. On the other hand it was not Mughals who created Urdu. Amir khusro already used to write in Urdu. Also Hindi was created by Chandrawardai the poet of Pritviraj Chauhan's court. Pritviraj Chauhan was the last Hindu emperor of Northern India.

deepak dahiya ok lets talk about Chand Bardai, his most prominent work is Prithviraj Raso which used to be considered as authentic till 1886 then it was challenged by Kaviraj Shyamaldas, The Mewar State official Mohanlal Vishnu Pandya tried to prove the text as authentic using forged documents. Pandya's arguments were rejected by prominent scholars such as G. H. Ojha and Ram Narayan Dugar. so my point is Chand Bardai's work is challenged and rejected by your own scholars, nobody is sure if it's even authentic or not so people don't usually quote Chand Bardai.. Now about urdu, I forgot to add one detail in rush, urdu and hindh was initially same language which used to be called Hamari boli or Apni Boli and it was derived from khari boli, that apni boli part was created by Mughals in a sense that they add more Persian words made it popular amongst elite and enforced to masses, and to address Amir Khusro I already told you in my first comment that 'In some cases you can find urdu in older texts than hindi'

Many words are also present in my mother tongue Assamese. By the way none of these words are standard Hindi, so we can call all of these as Urdu. But standard Hindi is an artificial language so these words are just Hindi but not Standard Hindi. Nobody actually speak Standard Hindi except some religious and formal situations, also the Hindi school literacy books try to teach standard Hindi. Linguistically the spoken language is known as Hindustani which includes both spoken Urdu and spoken Hindi. Hindi was created to remove all Persian-Arabic-Turkic and English loanwords (but that's almost impossible), so these regular words are called Urdu words by some people. Modern standard Urdu is also very Arabised.

hindi is not artificial language, urdu is. prior to muslim rule in india people spoke khariboli in western up, which was corrupted by arabo-persian words under muslim rule, later the language was returned to its original state after muslim rule was over and called hindi, whereas fake language urdu was literally bastardized with forceful addition of arabo-persian words and almost complete removal of native words

And vice versa. [In a *good* dictionary in either case!] Two scripts (3, counting Roman script nowadays! :P )] Serbo-croat is one language. So is Bahasa (= Bahasa Indonesia = Bahasa Malaysia). Punjabi is one language with 2 scripts - urdu script and gurmukhi. The terms Hindostani, Hindi, Hindavi, Urdu and Rekhta were synonymous until the beginning of the 20th century. The fake-'hindi' that was supposed to be 'different from urdu' was born at Fort William College, Calcutta (now 'Fort William Kendriya Vidyalaya') under a British divide-and-rule plan. The plan largely but not wholly succeded: so that: Urdu/Hindi/Hindostani is *still* one language with at least *two* literary forms. Just like Demotic Greek vs Modern literary Greek or Classical literary Greek.

I have some interest in linguistics and similarities of languages. Hindi and Persian belong to the Indo-Iranian language family. Persian is descended from Old Persian, while Hindi is descended from Sanskrit. Modern Hindi and Persian would have several cognates (similar words with similar meaning). This is due to the Persian influence under the Islamic rulers of Medieval India. What many people don't know is that Persian also shares cognates with Sanskrit-derived Hindi words. These pairs are just slightly harder to find. E.g., English Persian Persian-derived Hindi Sanskrit-derived Hindi White Sepid Safed Shvet Far Dur Dur Dur King Shah/ Shahriyar Shah Kshatriya (means warrior) Month Mah Mahina Mas Week Hafte Hafta Saptah Face Chehr Chehra Chitr (picture) Spring Bahar Bahar Vasant/ Basant Head Sar Sar Sir ('i' pronounced like 'it')

The specialty of Sanskrit (संस्कृत) is to have many synonyms for a single word, Farsi has also borrowed words from Sanskrit in past itself, Yes it's true, Sanskrit is a way older language than Farsi Because Older versions of modern Sanskrit are Vedic Sanskrit, Brahmi language (very ancient language way older than any language found on earth). We have thousands of texts written in the ancient Brahmi language those texts are yet to be decoded, Sometimes people often think that Urdu may come from a mix of Farsi and Sanskrit words but Urdu originally came from Vedic Sanskrit because Almost 99% of words can be found in Vedic Sanskrit which is still in use in modern Farsi. I know modern Farsi has been influenced by some new Arabic words. It is really hard to digest but Whatever I have written here is based on pure knowledge and hard work of many years of understanding languages from their root. Sorry for my English Grammar because I am not an English expert.

This exercise is kinda moot for Hindi and Persian since a lot of words in Hindi are directly loaned from Persian because of Mughal rule in northern India. The more interesting bit would be to have words from Sanskrit and Avestan which are still in practice in both languages. A better match up would be Hindi/Marathi with Baltic languages like Lithuianian or Latvian or even Slavic languages. The resemblance will blow people's mind.
