Good day all… I understand how many would say, the mom needs to reach out. However, sometimes parents have to fall back and let their adult children make the decision to reach out. It’s really a delicate situation between mother and child. Parents can and will make mistakes, sometimes like in Simone’s mom situation. However, her mom is a different person from the person she was some 20 years ago. I don’t think it’s about money. Simone is grown and can make her own decisions. I think her mom just want to give her daughter the respect she deserves by waiting on her. It’s an unfortunate situation Simone and her siblings were put in due to their mom’s addiction. Deep wounds so I think Simone should be given the right to make the decision as to whether or not she wants to have that intimate sit down with her mom. Her mother should not force herself upon her daughter, especially since she took her mother rights away. Her mother probably feels she owes Simone that right. I hope I’m making sense; just speaking from a mom’s point of view who is not an addict, nor gave her children up but bc of other reasons I am giving my child the opportunity to reach out to me when she is ready to discuss certain things. However, I will still call, text and show concern for my child. Once our children become adults we have to let them make their decisions even if we must fall back to give them that opportunity. So, I’m not disagreeing with you but just giving my opinion when it comes to who should reach out. Tbh- we do not know the whole story as to why her mom is leaving the ball sort of speak in Simone’s hands. But the 2 people that do know the answer is Simone and her mom. I will not remain silent. Simone’s biological mother birthed her into this world. One of the 10 Commandments in the Bible is to, “Honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long upon the. Some children’s birthmothers don’t want to have anything to do with their children. Simone’s mother did the right thing by turning her kids over to her relatives. She could not take care of Simone and her siblings. The commandment did not say Anna your mother if they are perfect in every way, and they are not addicts, allegedly. This is the problem in today’s world. We have put the Bible out of all our lives. I believe if Simone was a Christian, she would have a different mindset. Some children lost their parents in death. Simone can talk to, touch, here, see her natural mother. This is a blessing. 😊 when people have grudges against other people, negative disease happens in their physical bodies. It’s so much easier to love and forgive hating people is not going to benefit in any positive way when you don’t call someone, you don’t like them when you don’t socialize with people, you don’t want to be around them. 😊

As a recovering addict that excuse gets a little old. 6 years off my doc and I don’t feel like an addict anymore and I don’t think like one anymore. My daughter is 2 and she will never know that side of me. I have compassion for addicts and alcoholics but my true compassion lies with the children that are getting pulled through their parents bs. Addiction might be a disease but it’s still a choice based disease at the end of the day. I get mad when people say it’s a disease like cancer because nobody that survives cancer would make the choice to go looking for it again. I do respect that her mom is letting Simone make the choice to contact her but she should have done this differently.

We have abandoned you. We got caught up in addictions. You had to deal with it. Foster Care? Grandparents? Aunts/Uncles?..... will no doubt needed to raise you. Eventually you were loved, nurtured and provided for by caring people who pushed you into your many gifts and talents. You became great because of and in spite being the children of substance abusers. The past is the past. However, children get to choose when and how much they want to interact with an absentee parent. Simone says she is grateful for her grandfather who she calls dad. Bio moms, it is so much more than 'I'm sorry, that was my past, I can't change it, let's move forward.' Those abandoned can't change how it has impacted our lives and the pain that we have endured. Go at our pace and be understanding. This s is very hard for me. I’m not an addict but I understand some aspects it. Circumstances can dictate your life. She was apparently introduced to drugs at some juncture in her life. Her body became addicted to drugs. NOT EXCUSING HER AT ALL! Simone should get help first of all the help her get through the pain and lack of understanding of addiction. This will help to release the trauma that she is experiencing. Mom also needs help to understand her children’s trauma. Simone does not have to give her a dime. Just work on the relationship with her children. My your family be healed and blessed ♥️

Simone has been very open that she’s in therapy. It’s entirely possible that she’s already decided (and perhaps communicated to Shannon) that she doesn’t wish to have contact and/or that she feels it’s healthier not to. This may be painful for Shannon, but Simone doesn’t owe her anything.
