Both extremely talented. Both with massive egos. A lot of nastiness has gone on between them both and you can tell that it's never forgotten. We still have their beautiful music...who cares?

I've had a deep love for these guys most of my life after finding Bridge Over Troubled Water under my sisters bed. I was always fascinated by the cover and then I played the music. I'm in awe till this day. I was twelve then and im now forty eight ❤️

That song is very special to me. I spent my childhood and early teens searching for a song that I knew I had heard. It was the most beautiful song I had heard, but I could not remember it. Sometimes a couple of notes fleetingly and momentarily passed my memory, but disappeared within a second. I hated when that happened. Then one day, my sister came home with a record. The concert in Central Park. And I just sat in the sofa. There it was. There, at long frigging last it was. God, I love it.

Welllll, it could have been worst.... I've heard Paul has said some stuff. Honestly I feel like Paul was done with Art when he wrote "the only living boy in New York." That song is so heart wrenching. You can hear Paul's pain in that song.... It's that "I think you need to go.. may be you want to go." Paul really felt Art was done and wanted it to be done...The song shows it was more than production. He felt he was abandoned by his friend. While Art was filming Paul went through the stages of grief.. After that he formed some indifference... it's hard to jump back to things... It just makes it all very sad because I have seen Art reach out again and again. He still loves him but I fear it may be too late. I feel like most the time art is good about fielding questions. Every now and again you can hear the bitterness.... You know this whole thing pains him being emotionally apart from his friend..

NESherv they are two different persons in many ways, just like you and your ex girlfriend...if asked the question. Paul likes to play the media game, Art I dont think so...and me I would have told him how lame it is to he asked the same question years afters years, and would leave...believe me, the next idiot who would interview me, would not ask the question 😜

I think they are constantly trying to figure out why they irritate each other so much. I think they are trying every so often to work it out. They are two introverted moody artists. Jealous Paul and fussy Art...perhaps? But I sure love them!
@debrakish96594 жыл бұрын
They shouldn't care about performing together anymore. They just need to make up as friends! It's when they'd go on tour is where the problems started. Forget about working together anymore guys, you're both creeping up on 80 and one of you will die first with the other one full of regrets over not making amends before it happened.

Read a book by Paul who admitted that he honestly felt Art didn't deserve as much of financial and the composing rights as he received... or something along those lines..... This disappointed me so as have liked them both so much...wldn't be S&G if combo lacked either one of them.. although separately they've made great music... Anyway - have both mellowed with time... to think Paul's parents were never impressed with him being a musician in the beginning - it was the time we lived in I guess - lots of parents thought like this..."get a real job"... Barbara Streisand's mom felt this way... oh well thanks for the music you great talents... Huge hug of thanks from Cape Town...
@debrakish96594 жыл бұрын
I need to read his biography, as he supposedly gives more detail into their rocky relationship. Art couldn't have gotten any composing rights as he didn't write any of their lyrics or melodies but Paul was always jealous of how everyone fawned over Art's singing and only thought of Paul as "the songwriter". These guys need to apologize to each other over the hurt they've caused each other and preserve their friendship. Forget about ever performing together, the friendship is what's important now.
@sarahsaydee97438 жыл бұрын
I know their partnership ended yrs ago but is it possible that Paul wants to control every thing? and not let Artie have an input? because I watched an interview that said paul took off Artie's voice from a song that they recorded.
@tolbiny368 жыл бұрын
They were supposed to record Paul's album "Hearts and Bones" together after reuniting for the 1981 concert in Central Park. It didn't work out, and Paul destroyed most of Artie's parts. There are versions for Cars Are Cars and Song About the Moon on KZbin that still have Artie's voice on them.

I hate how people portray art as the bad one, Paul simon had just as big of an ego, if not bigger, as art did. They both contributed to the downfall.

Well, guess they're back to the not talking phase of their so called friendship. Pretty petty for guys nearing 80. Grow up already!
@sisterthesister48705 жыл бұрын
I don't think we, as outsiders, (I'm just assuming that you, like me, dont know them personally) can say it's petty. After all, we don't know every detail. It definitely is sad, though. At this point, I wouldn't every care about them doing one last concert together or anything like that. It would make my heart happy just to know that they were talking again and could somehow rekindle at least a part of the friendship they once had. I too have a few very long-standing friendships, going back to my early teens and one even literally from before I can remember. And they are so dear to me. These are the people who know our very souls. We should cherish them. The friendships and the memories we have together. After all, 'they're al that's left you'.
@Laura-ch7fl4 жыл бұрын
What do you mean? Are they not talking again?
@OganySupreme4 жыл бұрын
@@Laura-ch7fl Nope, they're not even talking to each other anymore. In a 2015 interview, Art said he created a monster in Paul because Paul was mocked for his height (which was common in their time), and Art was actually nice to him. In a later interview with Paul in 2018, he was asked if Art was invited at some point in his farewell tour. He said that was out of the question, and they don't speak anymore. Many people say they really should do just one more concert together for old times sake. I don't believe that's going to happen ever. Even if they someday make up and move past their differences, they'd be too old to perform and harmonize with each other. All I really care about is them making up and moving past their differences.
@debrakish96594 жыл бұрын
@@OganySupreme me too. As fans, of course we'd love to see them onstage again or release one final collection of songs that we can buy for ourselves, but what most of us would really love is for them to just forget about their musical differences and make up as friends! Like I said in an above comment, they're both approaching 80 and one of them will die first. The one remaining will feel a load of regret that they didn't make amends. How awful to have that on your heart until it's your time to go.

@@violetluna3462 I agree... I love to watch Paul’s interviews, he was so witty and deadpan, love that NY humour, he could be hysterical. I remember one interview he did with Art when the inevitable question ‘ why did you get back together after so long?’ Question came up.. Paul said ‘Because Art has an incurable disease and I need the money....’ never cracked his face, but you could hear the cameramen laughing in the background. Love him. 💕
