No, they don't need him. Chelsea should pay half his salary (and save half) because they wrote the contract and that's what THEY get paid to do, and maybe a team like Tottenham can pick up the rest. I'm sure Sterling could take slightly less from Tottenham just to get some playing time, but he should hold Chelsea to their end of the bargain, because they seem to have very low character and want to use the press to pressure him into making a mistake with only 10 days to sign with a new club. I hope Sterling, Chalobah etc all say okay thats fine id you dont want me but im not leaving. And slowly drag them down financially so their owners have to start managing the club properly.

His wages arent wanted is the real problem. 325k per week is likely why. They are trying to clear wage space to bring in Osimhen. He just so happens to be the casualty. He is clearly better than some of the winger options

For what he’s getting paid, he’s not that mil much better than those options. Sterling lost most of the Chelsea fans last year not passing on a clear 2v1 against the wolves. Dude tries to play like he’s hazard and has clearly lost a step. I’d take Neto over Sterling any day of the week

@@omelly8109 to me it’s a bit of both, he’s clearly overpaid.. but it’s not like fans have enjoyed watching him dribble into 4 guys and then Flop, or make selfish plays. He’s not garbage, he’s certainly not the guy we thought we would get. I expected a vet player who was hungry still, some of the stuff he has done since arrival is crazy to me.

His wages are why no other club will buy him and Chelsea are deluded for thinking they can sell him. So Chelsea might as well play Sterling since they are going to be paying his wages for the next 3 years one way or another.

He has accepted it, thats why he and his representatives leveraged the situation to make the most amount of noise possible. Chelsea can eat a loss offloading him, because they overspent on his wages, or they can continue to pay him. Grow up. Theres no honour in any of this.

Ok, what if he accepts it by saying "I'll stay and fight for my place" while accepting his full salary, a la Bogarde? Many players will not get half their salaries elsewhere and could end up costing Chelsea a fortune. Chelsea will go bankrupt at this rate.

This is harsh. What the player has lost is momentum. I have no doubt that if he has a fair shake, he will still be a very good player. In this case, I think that sterling and others have been treated badly by Chelsea. People are victim bashing here because his representatives have made a statement that the press released at an inappropriate time. Move on and play at a better club.
