These are nice guitars. Excellent value for the money. Same neck as on certain Godin acoustics (e.g. the Kingpin) and Seagulls.

If you are lucky enough to find an S&P Showcase give it a try, top of the line for a fair price❤😊

Hi Dave, I love your vids and Sandwich hours eh. I have the lefty version of the S & P songsmith and it's a wonderful instrument and I also own the 47th Norman ever sold! I guess that would make it the Great Great Great Grandfather of the Songsmith. Stay safe and keep bringing joy and laughter to old guitars and even older (74) fans.

I haven't seen a Simon & Patrick guitar in quite a while. I remember reading a review of an S&P guitar in Guitar Player magazine back in the '90s.

I've read that Simon & Patrick make excellent Guitars. The process of creating each Simon & Patrick acoustic guitar all starts in the Eastern Townships, just a few hours outside of Montreal in the small village of LaPatrie Quebec, where building guitars isn’t just a job but a true passion. The luthiers who bring each Simon & Patrick guitar to life are not just guitar builders but they are also devoted artisans who have a love for their craft. Their enthusiasm for the guitar was engrained by a long lineage of guitar makers, who have passed on their knowledge to guide those in LaPatrie to become some of the finest luthiers in the business.

That's funny, I read it's just a cheap line of godin acoustics.

I have an Art Lutherie with way too little neck back-angle. Cheese grater string action. The saddle is at zero height. It will need the heel shaved to correct neck angle and to be any use at all... that's kind of a pain for a guitar that cost $180. With the extremely low saddle & no down-force from the string break angle the nice cedar top sounds like cardboard.

I've got one of their Woodland Pro models. I think it's a really good value for the $600 or $700 I paid several years ago. I'm fond of parlor-size guitars now that I'm old and dont want to wrestle with large and heavy guitars anymore.

Dave I asked KZbin why some people that post regularly get auto captioning and some seem to rarely get captioning. I am currently waiting for a response. I expect they will answer with there prewritten response like I have recieved in the past. Who knows. Can't wait for my hearing to return.

A very nice looking instrument. You probably did it, but it looked to me, from your camera angle that the action at the nut was also a bit high. I was surprised we didn't get a nut filling. Stay safe, friend...be well...

Another great video Dave! Sounded like that Simon Patric guitar's intonation was way out of whack to me when you were strumming at the end.✌

Could you explain the "little bit of math" that got you to the 1/16 measurement?
@davidgriffiths36303 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing, measured action of strings minus desired action of strings equals take off such and such.
@kindabluejazz3 жыл бұрын
He's mentioned it in a few videos. Start with the amount you want it lowered at the 12th fret - then double that, and that's what you take off at the saddle. Because the 12th fret is half the string, and then Pythagoras. Err on the lower side, since it's easier to do a second pass then to add material back to the saddle.
