No, most are safety and health related. The rules regarding hair and clothing are similar to the rules my daughter adheres to when she takes ballet and tap exams. Hair up in a bun… it’s a challenge with my daughters wild and amazing Afro but we manage it. Leotards are a bit revealing and my daughter prefers to wear shorts over hers with a ballet wrap around cardigan but you can’t wear them for the exams. You need to have hair tied up and fitted clothes to be able to see how the body moves and how it is aligned etc but I’m all for the unitards as these work just as well. I feel sorry for any of the girls that have to compete when they are on their period, that must be hard and sometimes worrying.

I am amazed and fascinated watching gymnastics but I still think The gymnast should wear tights or something and look decent their muscles and alignments would still show as it is some of the shots and pictures look vulgar, indecent, and right next to pornography..

The rules are extremely tough and the judges are unforgiving however I have never experienced a coach that wasn't tougher than nails. If you can get passed that and still love the sport and tune out the negative voices and opinions....you can go far! I started at 4 years old and for fun continued until 43 years old and moved on to other sports. She is a power house and until her body or mind says its time to retire that's when she should step down. She is representing our country and she doesn't need criticism (that is covered during practice and meets) she needs her country to be behind her and supportive! That goes for all the great and wonderful athletes representing us and doing incredible things with their talents. ❤❤❤ God Bless all of you!!!

there are several notable gymnasts who have competed in 2 or more Olympic games Oksana Chusovitina 8 Larisa Latynina Dominique Dawes Svetlana Boginskaya Svetlana Khorkina etc. 3 Shannon Miller Lavinia Milosovici Kerri Strug etc. 2 though Miller made it to team trials for Sydney 2000 and had to withdraw due to a knee injury on vault the only Apparatus on which she never won an Olympic medal also no American Woman has swept all 6 medals at the Olympics the only woman ever to achieve that was Daniela Silivas of Romania in 1988 the only Apparatus Simone Biles hasn't medaled on at the Olympics is uneven bars and the only time a male Gymnast ever got a near perfect sweep of medals at the Olympics was Russian Boris Shakhlin in Rome in 1960 the only event he didn't medal in was Floor exercise 5 Gold Medals 2 Silver the Dominant men's team in every Olympics from 1960-1976 is Japan while for women's Russia/Romania were dominant from the Soviet Union days until 2012 for Romania

Are there rules governing men’s gymnastics that are as sexist as the women’s? I doubt it. If the women have to “glue” their leotards to their bodies so there isn’t a wardrobe malfunction, perhaps the unitard is a better choice. I’ve been watching Women’s Gymnastics for decades. Remember Olga Korbut? Such a pioneer that pushed gymnastics to more difficult routines. Several of her moves were banned because they were deemed too dangerous. 😂 I wonder what the 1972 governing body would think of 2024 routines. Simone Biles is pushing the limits of the sport and at 28 years of age! That is considered “old” in that sport. 😮

On the hairstyle. When Gabby Dougles won in London there were multiple negative comments about her hairstyle online. She had essentially the same hairstyle as the Caucasian girls. Keeping the hair out of one’s eyes seemed more important then fashion

If you think they are truly pure athletes and aren't judged by appearance then put them all in baggy Walmart Gray sweatsuits and see what your TV ratings are. Look at the TV ratings when they're even in black leotards as the verse 2 light-colored ones. You don't like running around in a skimpy leotard with your rear end hanging out then become a shot putter. Don't confuse sport with Athletics..
