So many people today do not care they will walk by someone they see in need they don't even give a second look others think its the homeless persons fault for their situation its heartbreaking that we live in such a selfish self absorbed world people think this can not happen to them an thats so wrong. you don't know someone's story don't assume. People need to love one another help one another we are all God's children an should think of that. it doesn't cost anything to care if we all helped each other instead of judging this would be a much happier worl. everyone who is struggling may God comfort an help you

Exactly. I feel dehumanized at times being homeless. It's usually only if someone with me decides to tell the world. I have a girlfriend that loves telling people we're homeless and it's really embarrassing. I see the different look. I'm clean and sober dealing with absolute insane people in a homeless shelter with addicts and insane people. I'm constantly running away from creepy men that want to get me high. Plus, my Mom just died 😮😢. I'm living a nightmare but still gotta keep going to get out of homelessness in northern California. The rental prices are insane. Plus gas, groceries and food 😮 It's not enough to get $187 a month from the state. I'm disabled but have to find work now instead of getting surgery. IHSS has also been a nightmare. Started working in April and still missing two paychecks. Nightmare. Thank you Jesus for being there for me ❤

@@karenbrown6348 i was homeless a few times when I was younger, some were my fault using drugs and other times was my brother's not paying their end of the rent and I couldn't afford it all by myself anymore, so I know how you feel especially with the mentally ill people in the shelters. Have you ever thought about moving? CONNECTICUT has the BEST homeless housing programs in the country, they give the most money in food stamps, disability, cash assistance, medical, dental and vision insurance is free if you make less than $40,000 a year, even prescriptions and ambulance rides are called completely free to the poor or homeless people. You can get brand new teeth, any kind of surgeries or whatever you need medically in any way, they even pay for your glasses and vision tests. If I was ever to become homeless again I would DEFINITELY choose to be in Connecticut.

@@MrFuggleGuggleYou clearly know absolutely nothing about trauma and addiction and how the systemic injustices within our society cause them. It is incredibly difficult not to find yourself destitute when you’ve been brought up in the traumatic, poverty stricken and often violent and abusive circumstances that these people have. “The Myth of Normal” and “In the Realm of the Hungry Ghosts” by Dr Gabor Mate are enlightening reads on the topic. Equally “The Wisdom of Trauma” is an exquisite documentary, also with Dr Gabor Mate. Shaming and a lack of understanding is not only what got us here but is what perpetuates the problem. Do better.

Endocarditis is a infection that attacks the heart valve. It doesn't travel to other parts of body. Therefore this woman's story is really just a lie. Furthermore the way to get endocarditis is by using needles without first cleaning the skin with an alcohol swab. Otherwise you inject the bad bugs from the surface ( outside the body ) then inject them into the body and they attack the heart valve, hence endocarditis. Still she's supposedly homeless and you can help whosoever you want to. As for me I would ask her " why are you lying ". Then start honest communication to find out what is really going on

We have to get rid of the idea that the people in these kind of situations are there because they choose to be or because their too lazy to work or because they are addicted to drugs and alcohol. More action, less empty commenting. If we have money to spare, there are many charities helping to get people off the streets. If we have time to spare, working for/with those charities is great. If you can be assured that who you meet is "safe" (not a lazy, drunk or violent beggar) then offering a sandwich or a drink is kind. Money is fleeting and all too quickly squandered. Charity donations are better. If you want to befriend them, invite them home - that is a noble undertaking.

They go on welfair when they get here. They are flown to New York and they get on aid for 1 year intill they get a work visa which takes a year. They come here and 3 4 kids. Why do u think our gas food etc has gone up? We help everyone else but our own. Shut down mental health and rents sky high so people have to live on the streets now in campers.

In case anyones wondering she meant bacterial endocarditis. Where clumps of bacteria forms on the heart causing infection, they can break off and cause infections to other parts. The part she doesn't include is the fact that it's a common disease amongst heroin addicts. Trust, she's been a user before if not currently still using.

People don't seem to understand that we _are all_ only one bad decision, bad circumstance or bad experience away from losing our homes. We should all be far more compassionate than some are. The misconception that people are just 'lazy' is absolutely disgusting. No one would choose that way of life. I've known many homeless people for various reasons & non of them were lazy, 'enjoyed' it or chose to be out in the cold. I know what I'm saying sounds so obvious, but sadly there are still some that have 0 empathy for others difficult situations; especially the Tories here in the UK who believe we all just need to pull up our boot straps & graft harder 🙄🤨. I'm so glad to read that this lady is doing much better & is making money again ♥️

The boys said now we are not going to help anyone but I told them you help people because you want to not because you might get something back, you do it out of the goodness of your heart. We have been broken into 4 times and still after almost 2yrs we still haven't replaced things we need like medical equipment and more but we helped more people instead of our needs. The last 2 people we helped the boys seen how a drink of water and a sandwich made them cry as they hadn't eaten for a few days. A few months go we helped a father and son, they ended up stealing stuff including all our medication and they gave us covid which almost killed one of my boys and I.

Hope you verified her story prior to deciding how best to help her. I have been lied to by people I have tried to help (even when I have been struggling). It's important to try to help, but it is also risky for many reasons (especially when it comes to complications with mental illness, serious personality disorders, and/or drug use). Not everyone has the ability/capacity to help. It is understandable that a person may not receive help right away. Good thing you came along with good intentions - I hope you will be careful. I've been homeless more than once. I lived by a fresh water spring where I ate water cress and drank the water. Went further upstream to bathe and do my laundry I'd hang my clothes over tree limbs to dry. The other time I lived in my car in winter and used a ceramic heater and extension cord to stay warm, I'd lay my driver's side seat back and sleep but wake up cramped all over. Friends would do my laundry and let me shower and sometimes feed me, I did without more often than not. So I know how this lady felt being homeless, people give you the most terrible looks and just keep walking instead of offering help of any kind.

The update is amazing x I live in a homeless centre myself, I’ve been homeless since I was 15. This was because I ran away from home every time the police bought me back to my family home, I was beaten to pulp every day and I couldn’t take it anymore. I went to the police and social services and they let me down terribly. I spent so many winters by the canal because even though it was freezing, it was the only place I could hide and sleep (in the bushes or a really dark spot. My 17th birthday I spent in A&E because I’d taken an overdose on paracetamol, the stranger that found me had called the police and because I looked so young and I had no identification on me at the time, everyone thought I was about 9 years old. I spent 3 months in a mental hospital, then a women’s refuge centre for a year, then a hostel where a male staff member abused me for 4 years and that damaged my mental health even more than my abusive family. I was now a grown woman running away from my hostel because of abuse. I wanted to leave this world so many times because of just not having somewhere I can lay my head without constantly watching my back. I wouldn’t wish homelessness on my worst enemy.

I too used to feel terrible for them but eventually all of them had a similar story of them being a loving person to then giving away their home to a loved one and then losing it. Every dam time they always give their homes away?! Part of me doesn’t believe it, I could be wrong but you’ve lost me when you’re begging for an extra change but do absolutely nothing to change your life. You have homeless who just lost everything but do literally everything to get back on their feet and then others who give up.

She's definitely Northern irish as I'm someone from Donegal first thing l noticed, as l commented already, how has she no family in Ireland to help her. So sad. Of course Ireland have homeless too, but she's away from her people and culture.

Oh bless her. She gave up her house to stay with her dying husband.... Then lost it all cause she wanted to be with him till the end.... WTF?! How do people not care?! Praying she gets back in her feet.

I don’t think it was her home, I think it was her business too. Does she not say she had a hostel at the time and gave it up to take care of her husband?

Yes. Unfortunately that's the way housing legislation works in the UK. If you've given up your place in temporary accommodation, they class you as "voluntarily homeless" and withdraw assistance from you. Tricky policies they've got. Glad it's all worked out for her. X

I don't buy it. She looks like she's had a rough life for far more than a year or so. Beggars are a playing a game... if part of their story works, they keep it for next time, so their sales pitch evolves to suck people in.

It sounds like you speak from personal experience. Can you please explain exactly how you scam ppl and how you come up with your stories ect. You’re not being transparent enough to truly be helpful. That is the problem w ppl like yourself. You’re willing to admit THAT you do this type of behavior, but you’re then unwilling to be transparent about the ins and outs. It’s ok if you want to continue saying your “friend” is the one who behaves this way. We all get it. Every decent person understands where experts like yourself get their expertise from. We would just like one of you scammers to spill. We know not all homeless are low lives. Just the scammers. Just your “friend”. If your “friend” would step up for once in his life and do the right thing… instead of use his ploy for life… or if YOU could just explain what and how your “friend” does what he does, THEN your comment would have value. Otherwise, it’s just a confession in disguise and you should look for your attempted righteousness else where.

@@144heartx lol. The OP is the “friend”. Sorry that went over your head. The op is a douche that thinks he speaks for others… and must do so bc he, himself IS a scammer. I’m sure bc he’s a scammer… he won’t admit so… however, maybe he will tell how his “friend” scams ppl. Aka… how HE does. It’s outrageous for Chris to assume that those who are homeless are all scammers… it shows HIS personality and motivation in the world. When I think of the homeless… I am full of compassion and empathy. Are there a few ppl who are sick enough to use anything to scam ppl? Sure!! They are the exceptions. Chris obviously understands exactly how to do the scamming and how it all works… he’s so very sure of it… he must have personal experience scamming. I’m calling out an a$$hole for being an a$$hole. He’s got a roof over his head… it’s probably dirty due to laziness, but a roof just the same. It’s probably paid for by money that’s been scammed, as that’s how he sees the world and therefore that IS his world. Ppl live in the world they create. The reason he’s immediately ragging on the homeless is bc he’s used that scam himself.
