Your tutorials are fantastic! I appreciate your thoroughness. I'm relatively new to Resolve and trying to learn how to create a breezy xfx on a still image to make the plants in the image appear to move. This helps a little but are their any other tutorials that might help more?

Thanks in advanced!
@SimonUbsdellАй бұрын
You could use a similar technique: a) add your still image to a 3D plane with plenty of subdivisions; b) add a 3D Displace node after it; c) add a Fast Noise and pipe it into the Displace input; d) adjust the Seethe Rate of the Fast Noise to get the movement you want and adjust the Displace Scale.

Hi, first of all THANK YOU for the brilliant tutorial! But what I don't understand is the following: At 22:29 you made a cut and suddenly you piped the rock.jpg twice in the Blinn? In which inputs and why?
@SimonUbsdell9 жыл бұрын
+jensmoiré Hi there. It looks as though what I did was pipe the Rock into the Specular Intensity input of the Blinn as well as into its Diffuse input - I don't think it makes a great deal of difference whether you do this or not but you might want to experiment and see if it does something you like. I think I'd add a Brightness/Contrast to that version of the Rock image to be abel to control it a bit better. Often what happens with these long tutorials is that I have to backtrack to re-record something that I haven't explained as well as I would have liked and in the process some small details get altered, as in this case.

Hi Simon... thanks for this great job. I have a minor problem : at 5.13mn, with fast noise brightness. When i play with it, mountains grows up an down. But when it goes down, it goes "under the grid ground". I cannot have a ground plane as you do. Same thing 5.33 : the displace scale value make everything grows up and down. i have no threshold. Also sorry i'm Fusion (16) newbie and french thats two handicaps, i know it. :)
@SimonUbsdell4 жыл бұрын
If your plane is sitting flat on the floor, -90 X rotation and zero Y position, a value of black (or zero opacity) in your displacement map will means those areas stay fixed to the floor. And that's because a zero input value from the displacement map literally means zero displacement. So my guess is that your plane is not on the floor where it should be.
@fixxions10024 жыл бұрын
@@SimonUbsdell well... my 3Dplane is 0-0-0 in translation. And in my displace, i cant put colors. and there is always "moutains" the grid. :(

@@fixxions1002 Did you find a solution for this? I had the same problem where rather than capping the value it translates the whole plane up and down according to the brightness! Similarly with contrast, it extends without plateauing

is there a way, i cant find it anywhere!!, i have a png, with the alpha and so. I wantedd to used the reflection node but it also affected the alpha part, and it appeared on that part too...so i say, well a mask, and did the mask, but everything else stop functioning, then i say... well maybe if i put the reflection joined to the blinn...but then the reflection is not showing anymore. Is there an effective way to mask the blinn to just the area without transparency? and if yes...how are the keywords to find it? I tried your keyer tut, but...well lets say that i already cut the image...and liked to add some bump and so...and aaah!!!! i want to cry!! im so used to AEFx and now this task....
@SimonUbsdell7 жыл бұрын
Pipe the PNG into the Reflection Intensity input of the Reflect node (as well as the Color Material input) ... that will limit the reflection to the areas where the alpha is not zero. Is that what you are trying to achieve? Please feel free to email me if you want to discuss this in more detail.
@alinerdelav7 жыл бұрын
what is your email? piped the png into the reflection, but im not sure. may i sent you a screenshot?

Why did you parent the pivot to the offset? (camera and sky ) what will happen if i dont parent those? Sorry if its a silly question i am fresh with Fusion
@SimonUbsdell8 жыл бұрын
It's a simple way of ensuring that the camera pivots around the centre point of the scene. It's much less easy to control if you don't do that, but why not give it a try not parenting it and see what happens? It's always a really good idea to experiment and find your own way of working.

hi simon i have a one question about softwares ! tell me pls from motion 5.2 or after effects cs6 or cc or blackmagic fusion 8 , which is the best software ? which software have more flexibility ! ...thx. nirmal
@SimonUbsdell8 жыл бұрын
Hi there. The answer to your question depends on the kind of work you are trying to do. If you are wanting to do hardcore visual effects compositing, then Fusion is the best option. If you want to work in both VFX and motion graphics, the After Effects is going to be a better. If you are doing motion graphics with a fast turnaround and need to benefit of realtime playback, then Motion is more efficient than After Effects. In short, After Effects is the best all-round option, but it's less good than Fusion for compositing and high-end visual effects (a lot less good) and it's less good than Motion if you want realtime performance. If you're using CS6 rather than the latest CC version, you are missing out on many of the best new features of After Effects.

Try uninstalling Fusion (there is an Uninstall utility in the Applications/Fusion folder) and then reinstalling the latest version. That should solve your problem.

I'm sorry to say that if that doesn't solve your problem, I don't know what to suggest. I would recommend that you contact Blackmagic technical support for help.

Hi Simon! Thanks for your tutorial! Really interesting! I'm stuck at the camera 3d part. I followed exactly what you've done but when i try to attach camera to UV map, it doesn't work. I mean...trying to move the camera on zed axis, nothing happens...Texture remain stretched as before...am i forgetting something that has to be enabled?

In the UV Map tool, makes sure that the Map Mode is set to Camera and that you have chosen the correct camera for the projection in the Camera dropdown. Hope that helps.
