Unfortunately, I can't help everyone recognize their GPU. Also, if you're looking for the Simler90's (S3_033) file, it does not exist anymore. The creator deleted the file. Thus, download the mod regularly and place it in your mods folder.

This guide is a little too confusing for me since I have an Intel. First, the Intel section in the Graphicrules file doesn't look the same as what is shown in the video (there's no long horizontal line of code so I'm not sure where I'm supposed to copy past my line) and second, my device is only named Intel(R) UHD Graphics so there's no ''x???'' to place anywhere.

Intel is a little different from AMD, so yes everything is going to look confusing to you. For you, I would recommend using the GPU add on support tool to recognize your graphics card. It’s linked in my description box!

I was going to color a stepping stone. My screen went dark and now there's a moving arrow. In a small box in upper right corner it says "the current style is invalid." I can not get out of it. HELP! New Sims 3 player here. I have a 64 bit Windows 10 desktop. 10 year old tower. Hopefully, this works. I only have base game for Sims 3, but still need something to stabilize it. Graphics are just horrible with it and it lags. And it's hard for me to find anything updated to this year for stabilizing Sims 3, so I hope this isn't outdated.

Amazing guide! Love it! However, I’m afraid of having Error Trap because the last time I installed it, it deleted one decor item from the game and replaced it with a similar base game item of the same type (it was the mother-in-law’s plant from Roaring Heights). I had to reinstall Roaring Heights and remove Error Trap to get the plant back. 😅

You can place the sgr file on your desktop, edit it, save it, and then put it back in your bin.

An important detail... The Sims 3 is a 32-bit architecture software, so the program cannot make use of memory when it exceeds 4 GB, does the practice of assigning it 8 GB of VRAM really work? By default (with the fix to take the graphics card correctly) it allocates up to 2GB.

This statement is true! The Sims 3 is a 32-bit game that cannot make use of memory over 4 GB. Before filming this video, I did a lot of research to see if increasing the amount VRAM to anything more than what the game can take would really work and there was many speculations of yes and no. I have tried this theory and to answer your question, it’s not going to work. Unfortunately, the game will continue to crash due to memory issues until it’s updated (highly doubt it will be updated to 64-bit though) 🥲.

Recognizing your GPU can be a bit difficult. You might of recognized it incorrectly. I highly recommend checking out the GPU Add-on support tool. This tool can recognize your GPU for you. If you're looking for your bin folder, try right clicking on the Sims 3 icon on your desktop and choose open file location. And, you can delete the five cache files along with xcpt files. Do not worry about script error files if you do not have any. Only delete the files that I have mentioned in the video. I hope this helps! 😊

Hi! This can happen when you put mods in too many sub-folders, so I would recommend not placing any mods in a sub-folder. Just the package folder.

I'm not sure if this number may be excessive, but I've seen many KZbinrs put hundreds of mods in a single subfolder. As for putting mods in the right folder: how can I tell if a mod should be installed in the "packages" folder or in the "Override" folder? Thank you very much.

@@angelp.3924 You're welcome! Some mods are weird when it comes to placing them in subfolders, I have no clue as to why that happens. If it still doesn't show up in your game, make sure you have the resource.cfg in your mods folder. The package folder is for any custom content or script mods. And, the overrides folder is for default replacement mods. Overall, most mods belong in your package folder unless it says default replacement.

First, thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to make this video! My game continuously crashes after only about 20 minutes of gameplay so this is going to be very helpful. Second, is there anywhere else that the sims 3 game bin would be located? I go into Program Files (x86) > Origin Games, and then the only thing sitting in there is my Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. I have both Sims 3 and Sims 4 installed as well, but they dont show up in there...Could this be due to me using the EA App now instead of Origin? I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game and still cant find the bin. All of this aside, I really dont struggle with graphics issues or any lag, as my PC can take a lot. Its only the game randomly closing that I am getting frustrated with. Can I maybe skip this first step of the video if it doesnt pertain to game crashing?

You’re welcome! If you’re looking for the bin folder try right clicking the Sims 3 icon on your desktop and choose “open file location”. It should direct you there without having to search for it. And, for the crashing issue. It could be many different reasons, so feel free to skip the first part of the video. However, it is recommended to recognize your graphics card (it won’t solve the crashing issue though). It just sounds like you may be experiencing memory crashing. I would follow some of the steps in this video and my other video called “The Sims 3 deserves to be a 64-bit game” to potentially help fix the crashing issue. I hope this helps! 🤞🏼

I can't find my graphics series? I just get (In the DeviceConfig file) Name (driver): AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics. No series, no numbers, no nothing that I can input into the GraphicRules file. It can find the device but whenever I try to match the device it always goes wrong and corrupts the filing causing the DeviceConfig file to go completely blank and I'm unable to run my game. I can fix that by repairing it in origin but it seems no matter what I try I can't get it to match with the device. Any suggestions? Edit: I have tried looking for my device's graphic number (Like 7500...6500 etc.) but I always turn up empty handed even when searching on the AMD website for its potential series 😅

You’re not the only one experiencing this, i honestly think this is an AMD mistake in the Sims. I would try repairing it again through origin, and use the GPU add-on support tool. The program will recognize it for you! But, hopefully AMD can get that problem fixed.

hi, i’m confused about your conversions for VRAAM part of the video. It says 8gb=4096 but in the steam doc in your video it says 4gb=4096 and I have 12. When i googled it said 12000. Those VRAM conversions were not made by me. I got those numbers from the Steam guide and decided to showcase it, but I believe that you would need to enter 12288.

Are you having trouble installing worlds through the Sims 3 launcher? If so, if it says “installation failed” you’re most likely missing some expansion/stuff packs that the world requires. And, I believe there’s another way to install worlds besides the launcher. I would google that information. I hope this helps!

I have the sims 3 cracked from anadius. When I try the Gpu Addon it recognized my gpu but its greyed out. when I looked at the manual it said reinstall sims 3 so I did that and still nothing. I tried Alder Lake patch and that only allowed me to actually enter the game but the graphics were so bad, literally so bad.

I royally messed up! A day or two ago I noticed the cache files haven't regenerated in my Sims 3 folder. The featured items folder has remained empty also. I know they always regenerate after you exit the game so I thought it was really odd when none of it regenerated. Is there something i deleted that caused that? I looked it up and didn't find anything about it but someone said that that is a huge problem. I'm honestly so scared!!

Don’t worry too much about the featured items folder, it’s better to have that empty than full. The cache files are supposed to regenerate once you reopen the game. However, if your game is running fine, I wouldn’t stress about it. Which cache files were removed? It’s only safe to remove some, not all.

@@Simphora The cache files that I'm no longer seeing are caspartcache.package compositorcache.package, scriptcache.package simcompositorcache.package socialcache.package and userpreset.package. (and the script error, I have some of the needed NRAAS mods) It definitely struck me as odd when I stopped seeing them reappear after exiting the game.

I think your game should be fine! You could repair the game through origin and it will restore everything. Make sure to back up all your Sims 3 files before proceeding.

If you click the windows key on your computer, use the search bar and try to search for anything “sims 3 saves” related. It could probably detect where those save files could be.

You’re welcome! And, frequently using the regul save cleaner to clean your save files can help with error code 16. It will not permanently remove it though. I would also recommend playing in smaller worlds to prevent that code! 💜

But I always start is up on the EA app. The first menu pops out normally, but when I click play the application disappears and the Sims 3 never pops up. If you have any mods or custom content, remove all of that. And, since you only completed the first step, you may have did it wrong but that's okay because it's hard! I would suggest downloading the TS3 GPU Add-on Support Tool and recognize your GPU with that. The link to the tool is in my description box!

I noticed you said that you had an AMD gpu and so do I. I’ve been having a horrible bug that effects mirrors and water reflections and makes them reflect backwards 😂 (like the mirrors reflect the opposite wall’s wallpaper). Do you know of a fix for this? Apparently it’s a problem only with new AMD graphics cards. And thanks for the lovely video ❤️

Omg yes! I have that same exact issue. Unfortunately, there’s no fix for it. Due to the sims 3 being an older game, the new AMD graphic cards are unrecognizable with the reflections only NVIDIA graphic cards. You can always turn off the reflections in the in-game settings and it won’t looked glitched anymore, but that’s not a fix. 🫣

Of course! So, yours would technically be under the “ATI” section like mine since it’s AMD. However your GPU looks a little older than mine, so I would use the GPU add-on support to make sure that it is properly recognized. The tool is in my description! ✨

If you’re replacing the smooth patch for the new one (1.2.1), then yes take it out. If not, no. However, you should always back up your electronic arts files before starting this guide and then you should be good to go, while being optimized!
