Sims 3 Remastered Graphics 2024! (Mods)

The Sims 3 is a game that while sometimes beautiful, has not aged as gracefully as it could have. In this video I will be showcasing a bunch of graphics enhancement mods you can add to your Sims 3 game to remaster the visuals! We will cover everything from HD texture replacements to lighting mods and different shaders! The best part is this guide will be suitable for most PC’s, as we avoid using some of the heavier tools like ReShade. Hey everyone! I see some people are having issues with crashing or glitches! Although this guide is a lot less heavy than using ReShade, these mods will still add more of a workload to your PC when running the game, which could cause issues if you are on lower end hardware. Also, if you have specific glitches or issues, my first piece of advice is to rewatch and make sure you put everything in the right area, and followed ALL the steps correctly. It is easy to make mistakes and that could cause issues. Lastly, try removing any other mods if you have them, and running the game only with what was shown. If it works in isolation, you may have a conflicts issue, or simply too much CC and mods for your PC to handle. I will of course help with issues as much as I can but these are some things to try! ALSO, if you are experience a crash right away, try launching the game again. Ever since EA app my game will sometimes take up to three times to successfully launch, I have no clue why. It could be as simple as that though if that is an issue you are experiencing.

I only installed the Lady Duchess mods and altho the Load ASI Mods icon is ticked it says on the page to choose game file to play "RPclib ASI file not loaded.state: none". I went through all the mods and it's the Lady Duchess split lighting causing the problem,trying to figure out why now. Any help much appreciated.😺

@@Davehnry2did you also install the packages files into your packages folder? I have no idea why that might be happening otherwise. Did you test split level lighting to see if it’s not working? It may just say that for you but still work.

0:08 I’m all up for modding games to make the graphics nicer but we gotta stop this attitude of assuming games are no longer good because they were made 15 years ago, the quality isn’t up to todays standards but it isn’t going to be, it’s still a great game that added so much new ideas to the franchise

I'd suggest adding the "Enhance Free Butterflies and Falling Leaves with Physics" by Canibal_MLO, too. Seeing the red leaves flying through the air in autumn, with wind sounds and visual effects is just perfect and serene.

I've seen many tutorials for improving sims 3 visuals and this one might be my favourite. Very effective mod selection, amazing how much you can change the game's appearance with just a few tweaks. I also really appreciate the modded/unmodded comparisons. Thanks you for sharing! Another option for textures I'd add would be Boring Bones' Project Eden. I use his defaults for terrain, rocks and plants. I find that it makes everything come together more easily on the eye

AJ, IT DIDN'T WORK 😭😭😭 I don't know if it was a problem with my computer, but the map disappeared (!), the graphics settings didn't save, and the graphics became jagged.

The Sims 4 is not as pretty as people claim. The colors are washed out, the textures are poor. TS3 looks much richer, with more vibrant colors, and better textures. With little tweaks it can look much better than TS4.

I just downloaded the sims 3 this weekend and i was floored by how much better the men look in the sims 3. They may be low poly but sims 4 sims look like baby toys.

Sims 3 looks better then the Sims 4 IMO and I never had problems with the Sims 3 graphics in the first place, it's the performance that needs a boost.

I downloaded almost everything (i only didnt include the multi level lighting fix cause i dont mind EAs) but still its very pretty all the mods you mentioned My game is runing good, i have a pretty solid laptop with alot of RAM and a mid level graphics card so all of this can work very nice in a mid range computer Thank you thank you! If I'm not mistaken, the water shader for The Sims 3, the first version, was the same they used in Battlefield Bad Company 2

Hopefully one day we'll be lucky enough to have EA release an official x64 version of The Sims 3 with at least Direct X 10 support for PC, so we can take better advantage of modern hardware. 🙏

Everything but the shadows work for me. if I have the lighting/shadows setting any higher than low sims bodies are grey, it looks more like 1 big texture cos sometimes there’s a seam (everything but their head and hair, those are fine) it only happens indoors, they’re fine outside. I’m on 1.67 so I’m not using the ea/origin app launcher. If anyone knows what’s causing it or the fix I’d really appreciate it.

People are so dramatic with the sims 3 graphics. They are not that bad and if you’re put off by its graphics you’re extremely picky. The sims 4 doesn’t even look that great.

Cool video! Reshade can blend with your game pretty well if you do the extra steps. I managed to add ambient occlusion with Reshade and it looks better than the Sims 4! For UI I use layers that disable effects where the interface is located. I also use UI detector which automatically disables effects when you are not in the main game.

Issue it doesnt always work since depth map changes while playing. I only use it to alter color and make game sharper.

There is sometimes a glitch in sims 3 where the clouds do not display properly and the only known fix is to exit and reload the save. That may be the issue OR it may be because you don’t have all packs. I have all expansions so that might be why it works for me and not you.

I wanna do this so bad. But for me... I just got my game back after fully resetting my whole PC. I've been off this game for about a month and I want what you just show. In my play-through, I'm doing an adventure pack where I find 24 sims to join me in my household and just live. I have over 77 mods to help me out, (I'll delete some of them later LOL) Now seeing that I can make my game much better I wanna do this. But I'm nervous I might mess up. You can remove the mods and if that doesn’t help then reinstall the game. Just collect your save files first they will be stored in the documents folder.

Sadly that is a vague error message that could be for a LOT of reasons. But if you have no other cc or mods than what is in this video it would be the mods causing issue, although I am not certain why since the files are working on my PC using the links i provided. Did you launch with custom launcher from Lazy Duchess? If you are using the extended shadows or split level lighting fix that will be a requirement. You could also maybe use the 1k texture replacement or remove it entirely and see if that helps. It may be too much depending on your hardware.

I do have the custom launcher and I tried removing the texture but I still got the message. I do have other cc installed so there is probably a conflict somewhere. Thanks!

@@hotdog8787 yeah most likely a conflict! If you know how to use S3pe and have an idea of what may be conflicting your can check the packages in S3pe and see if two are editing the same files

Just updating in case anyone else has the same problem. I took out everything from this video and put it back 1 by 1 and it only crashed with the lightning crater mod and the split level lighting mod so I’m just going to keep them out of my game. Im probably only having trouble with those mods because of a conflict though.

I might in the future! I’m not as familiar with the graphics mods in sims 2 but I’m sure there is no end to texture replacements so I’ll have to do some research and fine tune it to my liking
