Awesome. I'm about to start making beef jerky again and Teriyaki is my personal favorite so I like to try, as you said, the many different styles and this one is more on the unique side than the basic styles you find. Thank you very much for your knowledge. Best wishes from California!

Aloha Leonora! I love your cooking show! Everything looks so ono! I’m making a list of all the new ingredients you’re introducing to me and can’t wait to try them. The hardest part will be deciding which one to try first. There’s a Chinese treat I’ve been wanting to learn how to make but can’t find anyone who is willing to teach me. Would you know how to make tung mai? It’s a puffed rice tray with peanuts and ginger. It’s not sweet like okoshi. It has a perfect balance of ingredients where each bit reveals the heat from ginger, the peanut flavor, and the crispness of puffed rice. I would love it if you could add this to your list of amazing recipes! Mahalo! Robyn
@HawaiisPickleLady Жыл бұрын
Thank you Robyn. I've tried to get the recipe from several people but they are all unwilling to teach even if paid. I had a client who's mom used to make it. She told me all the steps and it's quite tedious. You need to precook mochi rice, dry and separate them. Clean beach sand well, heat in a wok and put small amounts of the rice until puffed. They use special wooden trays. Sugar syrup is made and chopped ginger, peanuts and sesame seeds are added and rice mixed in and pressed in the wooden mold. It is probably cut when warm then carefully pack them neatly in the white plastic containers. These ladies will die with their secret and there are less ladies making them to sell.

3 lbs beef....how many serving is that? I'm making teri beef for a party of 25 and trying to figure out how much beef to get? any suggestions?
@HawaiisPickleLady Жыл бұрын
It really depends on how many dishes you're serving and who's eating. I would think 4-6 servings per pound.

@@HawaiisPickleLady Yes I did see the recipe on your website under beef. But I was wondering if you’ve ever taken the marinated teriyaki beef and then stirfried it with vegetables in a KZbin video? It only shows the recipe and video for the marinade.

Are you a nice lady or a mean lady? Im Just curious because japanese women in hawaii have been so mean to me growing up. Very snobbish and looking down on me because they had an inferior complex. I just wonder nowadays when i see an older asain woman.. a lot of my teachers were Japanese and they had class pets of their own kind usually or really brainiac white students. and they made me feel so embarrassed about myself by passive comments or remarks or blunt tactics to humiliate me in front of the class and rude gestures and facial expressions etc. even when i grew older, japanese still looked at me with very judgemental unfriendly looks, so i now have such a hard time trusting japanese ppl from hawaii... they have always been so mean to me, and i have always be friendly to them...
