Here we show you the simple setup we use for bathing and getting on and off our boat - both when we're swimming at anchor and we are 'Med Moored'. 🔔 SUBSCRIBE ➜ bit.ly/SBKZbin⛵
Some boats have very complicated systems to do this job - even going as far as having hydraulically-actuated platforms... (😲 The maintenance!...)
We use a length of bungee chord (a.k.a. shock cord) with two carabiners whipped onto the ends to raise the gangplank and stop it rubbing on the dock.
We find it simple but effective, so we thought we'd share it with you in this 'Sailing Tips' video.
Do you know someone who has trouble to board their boat? An older person, someone with mobility issues, someone sailing with a baby or kids or even someone who sails with a dog? Share this video with them and they might love you forever!
⛵ Sailing Britaly ⛵ brings you the sailing shenanigans of Chris (British) and Rossella (Italian), as we sail our 30ft sloop. We make sailing vlogs of our cruising adventures and share any tips and tricks we can along the way. After all, sailors are one big family!
Thank you very much for watching, subscribe to see more of our videos! (It's free!) ➜ bit.ly/SBKZbin⛵

Hi Phil, thank you for your comment. This was already on the boat when we bought it. I found what looks to be the same one on eBay, here's a link to the eBay listing: fave.co/2ontT1q I have to admit it would fall into my 'too expensive' category at this price! You may be able to use the part number to try to source it elsewhere though. Fair winds, Chris & Rossella 👍

I know that teak wood is remarkable stuff. My brother in law brought the broken parts of a US Navy gangplank home from the dump where he worked 30 years ago to disassemble it for salvage. He died before geting it done so I finally gathered all the pieces out of the weeds and recycled the aluminum and stainless but I had these gnarly exposed graine railings left I figured they were worthless wood until I cut into one and it was still as beautiful on the inside as when it was new.

Hi Hans, wood is an incredible material. There is a wooden church in the UK that is nearly 1200 years old... Thanks for watching! Chris and Rossella 👍

That is a great idea. We just bought our first boat and the wife and kids insist on bring our Labrador retriever with us. All 90 pounds of him. We have a swim ladder but I've been pondering how to make it easier for him to get on and off. Thanks for the tip!

Hi John, thank you for your comment. This is really handy for dog owners and also for anyone with reduced mobility or for visitors who don't have their sea legs yet! It sounds like you and your family are going to be having a lot of fun together. :-) Fair winds, Chris and Rossella 👍
