Here was a Vauxhall Corsa that suffered a car park dent and we repaired it at home by filling, priming and painting the door with an in panel blend and finished with a 2k lacquer on the whole door. There are many ways of doing this job. This is just one way.

Loved your weld transit vids and thought you had a load of learning for beginners in terms of kit, sources and techniques. I’ve been searching around your channel for paint vids please tell me you’ve got some more as there was loads in this but things like - thinning (nightmare to get viscosity right) types of spray gun, and even the masking /sanding bar/ feathering Tac cloths/blowing down just using the air -(how you stopped the paint flow) cleaning down the paint gun. So - fab vid - just saying there was so much more content opportunities that folk like me would be dead interested in. I’ve tried some basic on the drive lvlp spraying of my old smiley transit but had more questions than answers even when finished. Keep up the great content ! Cheers

Not a bad job in the conditions your in and some called painters can't do the job in a spraybooth,I'm a spray painter by trade and after 32 years in the job I just quit coming up 12 months now and I just potter about doing jobs at home so I know how hard it is doing jobs in those conditions but if your skilled like jimmy it can be done,what clear did you use?0200 max Meyer?I've just blew a bumper in today using 0200.I normally use roberlo 610 or mipa cx4 at home because they bake at 10_15 minute at 60 plus they stay open long enough to do big jobs so tell jimmy to give them a try martin.

I like the way you blended the color. In my part of the world here, body shops do a panel paint and you can always tell that the color isn't exactly like it's supposed to be. So aggravating to see a nice car rolling down the street, that has 2 different colors on it. The actual color is the same, but you can tell that the tone is different in the color, depending on the angle you are looking or the light. Direct sunlight really make it noticeable. I'd like to see that when it's completely done. I'm sure looks great.

You will rant at me but.. silly as it sounds when you run your hand over a repair you should look away from it as your brain plays tricks on you. You should not prime right up to the masking tape the way you did. You mentioned about orange peel, grey scotch will not remove this, you would have been better off wet flatting the whole door with 800 I know it's only an old nail but it would of only taken a couple of mins to remove those rubbers rather than mask them.
@retrorestore
@retrorestore 5 жыл бұрын
I know all that bud but the rule book is not the only way. The soft edges for masking is not the holy grail, it really makes no difference if you have so called soft edges. Never wet sand primer bud, its porous.
