My mom was the youngest of8 and never learned to cook well, parents died when she was young.cooking class in school didnt teach me much either as I had to learn to cook for dad when mom went to work.learned mostly on my own.but you tell stuff ,like how butter and marinade work, that life didnt teach me.for that I am grateful.i am 68 and hubby loves my cooking. But good to know more.i have been cooking since 8th grade.getting a little tired of it,wish someone would cook for me once in awhile.nice that you cook for your wife.i thank you.

Great Vid! Would love to see a "long term" (more than 1-2 nights) food storage/transportation. How do you carry your milk, eggs, etc... Saw what you were using for salt and pepper containers...great idea! I found some like those at Dollar Tree and that's what i had planned to use them for as well. Speaking of seasoning...have you tried Southern Flavor? It's a great seasoning that can go on anything. It's made in Selma, and most grocery stores in the area (seen it Montgomery too) have it. It's really good!

If you use the ones with cork from the dollar tree you can get four into the altoids tin...Blackie probably uses powered milk and eggs...just a thought anyway...

Hi Blackie, Living in East Tennessee, we are now required to hang our food in the Cherokee National Forest because it is bear country. I also would not cook where I sleep. A lot of woodscraft videos I watch show cook fires 3' in front of a tarp. Could you show some suggestions on camp set-up in bear country? Thanks, safe travels.

Have you ever tried Idahoan freeze dried hash browns? They come in a gallon sized waxed paper carton, and with a little freeze dried onion flakes they are excellent. Mix them 1:1 with water just off the boil, and they are ready to fry in 30 minutes. I reserve one of my trekkers pantry tins for freeze dried hash browns, they are awesome.

I like the way you cooked the steak. But I never won't to eat mashed potatoes you cook. Mayonnaise I can't handle on or in nothing. Its not for me, but enjoy cooking on a fire or outside.
