In today's video I show you all how to create a Simple DIY Live Bait TANK Setup! This was very easy to make at my house with very few materials. This live bait well is able to keep dozens of baitfish alive for long fishing trips and move them flawlessly from spot to spot. You can see me using this setup in many future and past videos.
Leave a comment below how you would build your own live bait tank, or if you have any questions.
Material List:
48 quart cooler: amzn.to/2L4LcLW
Furniture dolly: amzn.to/2OLoLh3
2 bubble box: amzn.to/2nKcmOW
1"x 4" planks (plywood would work fine too)
4 'D' Batteries
Drywall Screws
Miscellaneous Wire
1" PVC Pipe
Milk Crate
5 Gallon Bucket

I built a frame and used small wheel barrel wheels. I also used velcro and a seat cushion which really was pretty great. Less stuff to carry, perfect to sit and do rigging. I also carry some frozen bottles and thermometer so I can get the water temp back down during long hot days.

Good job. I made one like this a while ago. One thing about using a cooler is during the summer months you can drop a couple of frozen water bottles in there to cool the water down and it will stay cool because it's a "cooler" and the bait stays alive much longer.

Bonus tip, sometimes tackle stores will have what is called a "check valve", which is just a little cylinder shaped valve that you place in between the tubing that goes from the bubbler to the stone to prevent water from going back into the bubbler.

so its like a different tubing for the bubbler ?

One recommendation is a lip or edge to help keep the cooler from sliding off the cart... when it’s full of water it’s going to be real heavy and the bungee cords will not be enough, especially going up/down inclines or over bumps.

I built something very similar. Only one bubbler but I added a small lawn mower battery hooked to a small bilge pump. On that line I added an inline filter filled with aquarium charcoal inside a piece of pantyhose. If you can keep it cool bait will last a lot longer. The charcoal absorbs the urea that the fish put out. This is what kills them quick! I have had pinfish last for 5 days, no problem!

Need to use a bait net to keep bait hardy. Never know when someone has chemicals like sunscreen or bug repellant on their hands which contaminates the water. 3M command strips actually make a locking holder for mops/brooms/brushes that you could mount fo the lid and it would be good to go!

As a side note the air stone only gives surface movement for gas exchange between ammonia and oxygen so in essence you could have it at the top. but great video..

Hey man I wanted to tell you next time you go up to New York go to Montauk or anywhere on the southern state or sunrise highway there’s beaches all up and down there you can really hook up into some 40 to 50 pound striper is my personal PB was 72 inches at 47 1/2 pounds he was kind of skinny if you ask me Grant you this was back in the 90s but I’m pretty sure the way New York is with there fishing regulations on stripers that there still some pretty big cows out there

All that work and drilling and cart in the end it’s the same process as everyone else at the PIER...just a normal aerator bubble ice box all will die after a few hours if you don’t change out the water... unless like this video if you have 5-7 baits in there you don’t have to worry about water temperature, ammonia, and filter out the poops...

Yeah no… Guys you need a circular tank for them to swim around in constantly, not a squared shaped because the bait tend to go into the corners and start dying off. Also, after a very short time in a square tank you’ll notice their fins start turning pink and once that happens they’re no where near as good of bait, where-as in a circular tank they’ll retain their colour. Helps massively if there’s nothing in there for them to rub against as well, so tape down or super glue everything in your tank. Thank me later guys an girls.

You would still be short the space for a bucket and with what he has built he could also add a few short PVC tubes for rod holders.
@RyanMorie
@RyanMorie 6 жыл бұрын
Meant to mention it in the vid but it slipped my mind! When you’re moving baits from place to place with almost all wheeled coolers you have to tilt it. Tilting a cooler full of water will spill it everywhere and force the baits to knock into each other more than necessary. You could definitely use a wheeled cooler if that’s what you have but I decided to go a different direction in this instance!

Come on dude, you lived in America, you didn't have to be so cheap and untidy. Also, if you ever get the idea to do this again, change those dolly wheels to some bigger and thicker rubber wheels so you don't get thrown off the pier before you get to fishing with all the damn noise that cart makes. Think about what you're doing and how it affects others. It's good to teach your children how to do something not only safely but right. You don't have to be a professional but try to be a perfectionist in anything you do and your kids will learn the proper way to do things from you......as well as any followers you may have. Don't take this as criticism, take it as motivation to do better and be considerate to others.
