I would never have thought to use the same color sentiment as the card like that but it is quite striking, gonna have to give it a go

Hi Justine Great tutorial what do you do with the left over foil :) ?
@justinehovey5 жыл бұрын
I've shown in other videos that you can use a tape runner, apply to cardstock and adhere it as a background. For these cards I didn't do anything with it though

How do you use foil mates with spellbinders glimmer system?
@justinehovey3 жыл бұрын
You can't use foliates with this system, it's a different foil and you need a laminator.

Can you use any die cutting machine to cut out once foiled?
@justinehovey5 жыл бұрын
I assume the big shot would work since they are very similar. I'm not sure about every machine since I don't own "every machine" to try it out. If you have a Gemini, you could purchase the machine by Crafter's Companion. They have one too that goest through the Gemini
@korenwoodworth81595 жыл бұрын
To use the glimmer you have to have the same die cutting machine? Not a Gemini?
@justinehovey5 жыл бұрын
If you have a Gemini, I would suggest buying their machine. They have a foiling machine that works the same as this one

I can't help but notice that everything slips around when removing it from the heating plate and transferring it to the die machine. I can see that there's be a LOT of mistakes.... especially as you can't see where the plate is under the foil. They need a shallow lip so you can pr the top plates on without them slipping and sliding.
@regangrundey83005 жыл бұрын
mariaflies I have noticed this too. I am on the fence about purchasing a heat foil system as it seems like you are working blind on the placement of dies and when you add in the shifting of the plates it is a wonder anything turns out as planned. I wish that someone could address this in a tutorial.

Jennifer McGuire used washi tape to hold everything in place in her video on this machine. I pull the base out before adding the cardstock and shim/clear plate. It’s easier to hold everything together while getting it into the die machine. I also use a slightly larger piece of card stock so I can trim it down and make sure it is straight if necessary.
@Tanya995035 жыл бұрын
when using this, the foil is supposed to be cut just barely bigger than the metal foil die which will make lining up the cardstock on top of it easier and more precise. this was not explained and shown but she pulled it off doing it the way she does it
@justinehovey5 жыл бұрын
Yes cutting the foil precisely helps, but you are working blind if you want something exactly in an area. I asked this at some of the booths at creativation. My plates slid around a bit when I put them through the die cutting machine but it didn't affect the results I got. I didn't edit anything out (mistakes) on this video.

The explanation of the process/your steps seems a little disjointed/unorganized. Looks like a first-time use of the product??!! Good finished project, may need a better "presentation" of how the foiling is used with the machine's functions/components of the machine.
@justinehovey5 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry you felt that way. I have used this machine several times but I don't use it daily so I always have the instructions ready beside me as I tend to forget. There isn't a lot to explain with the machine except what you use for the sandwich plates and pressing a button so I'm not sure how I could have explained it better.
