In this guitar lesson, I am going to show you a very simple fingerpicking pattern played with beautiful sounding chords. This is honestly one of my favorite practice because you can keep one element really simple, in this case, the right hand, but still, challenge the left hand with cool chords.

🎸FAQs:
Are you a full time KZbinr?
Yes guys, I am a full time as Marco Cirillo on my KZbin channel and I promote my videos on my website BlitzGuitar.com. All the courses I post online are available on my Patreon page bit.ly/2rMAPYG
How long have you been playing guitar for?
I started playing guitar when I was 10 years old so it has been more than 20 years. I have always loved fingerpicking guitar so this is why all my tutorials focus on this topic.
Why are you on Patreon?
Patreon is great! It allows creators to make money doing what they love. On Patreon I can share my guitar lessons with my Patrons and get payed for it. As a creator I feel like Patreon really made a huge difference in the way I share my content :)
Do you do concerts?
I used to do a lot of gigs in the past. London is a great place to play music almost every day. When my KZbin channel started to grow I decided to go all in and try to help as many people as possible learning guitar. This goal takes all the time I have available so I am not doing any gig or concert atm.

for absolute beginners that feel intimidated by this or other "easy/simple" stuff, there are few things u might have overlooked. keep in mind hands and fingers feel too smol bc u have no flexibility. start stretching your fingers regularly. a little warmup and stretching goes along way before playing muting strings, is also correlated with not enough celluse (coral skin) on your fingertips, this will build the more u play, so does precision. in addition u will most likely press harder than needed, because its new movement and bc your fingers are too soft. with more coral skin, less pressure is needed, both contribute to more endurance and less pain. u struggle with finger independence bc your brain needs to acquire muscle memory first. do finger independence exercise regularly with or without the guitar. do not play the guitar for at least 30 minutes after u shower; skin soaks up water resulting in a more likelyness to damage already built celluse and skin on your fingertips. if your fingertips feel rly dry, have tears etc, apply vaseline. avoid chewing or biting off loose skin on your finger tips, apply vaseline. a better starting point imo would be "simple songs with standard chords". there are tons of great songs with just basic chords. ull build celluse, dexterity, endurance, finger independence and also train your ear. do that before u try more "random chords". once u have a foundation, you will see that other "new" and "simple" chords will be way simpler to get into. dont get intimidated and put the guitar aside bc u dont feel like getting nowhere. analyse your weaknesses and built up your skill slowly, attentive and most importantly, be consistent about it. 20 mins a day will get u further than 4 hours streight once a week. last but not least, the majority of learning doesnt happen during practise. about 70% is after practise, when your brain builds new connections and muscle memory. or simply repairs damaged muscle or skin to become more resistant to the stress u put on your body, just like when working out. so picking up your guitar more frequently but for a shorter period of time will get u further than a long practise session with days or weeks of break inbetween.

@@julysanchez1313 i am a beginner myself. but im at that point were i can dig into things like this. before i forget, in addition to the comment above, observe where your thump is. sometimes it "sticks" to the neck when you change chords, resulting in a greater stretch and struggle than actually necessary. a general rule of thump is to position the thump on the neck in the center in relation to your other fingers on the fretboard. and pay attention if the thump sticks or follows as you change chords op or down the fretboard. :)

@@RaZhOdKaaaa correct. to take advantage of this the most, practise new or akward feeling chords or changes right before u go to bed and let the brain do its magic while u sleep. to take it even further, u could do the same right after waking up again. 5-10 mins of focused practise is enough for this to take affect.

Get a guitar with lower action. When I started I bought a fender dreadnought with high action and I always was muting strings, I picked up a cheaper recording king with lower action and was able to hit chords without muting strings to work on my technique and now I can play my favorite guitar but I can always resort back to my recording king for technique and finger positioning practice

Maxim Salnikov Easy picking pattern that you don’t even touch the neck of the guitar for beginner (taught from friend, probably somewhere on KZbin) 6th string 3rd string 2nd string 1st string 2nd string 3rd string 5th string 3rd string 2nd string 1st string 2nd string 3rd string Repeat. Over time you could experiment with changing notes but I found this is really good for a first one to play when you’ve pretty much never held a guitar before starting.

For those of you guys having trouble with the first chord I did too at first but if you look closely his thumb is tucked behind the neck of the guitar. Some guitar players don't do that and there thumb is showing above their guitar neck, this doesn't allow you to stretch your hand that much. So try to move your thumb behind the guitar neck to give your fingers more room to stretch for the chord. Think about how when you hold your guitar the neck is horizontal and your fingers are vertical. The lower you move your thumb (tucked behind the neck) the more room you have, the higher your thumb is the less room you get. I hope this helps!
@francescosisto7131
@francescosisto7131 3 жыл бұрын
There is not such a thing like too fat or too short fingers, its just practicing it right. you are right, the thumb must be behind the neck of the guitar, toward the lower part of it, also, if you find out that you can't stretch enough, try moving the thumb behind the neck toward the pinky finger, the movement becomes natural with time and practicing.

@@leytonwaugh9670 you're joking right? You can do anything you put your mind to do, and so can I, I've proven this factual law from GOD with multiple achievements that I won't bore you with here because our topic is mastering Guitar. My statement was to basically give props to how good Marco is. Now I don't know how long Marco has been playing, but I know that I take a long time to master things because I'm a natural perfectionist. And we know that perfection is an illusion. But I'm hard headed, I continue to strive for it anyway, LOL!!! I'm actually a professional musician already, but my talent is vocal. I've just picked up Guitar 5yrs ago, but have actually made really good money playing and singing, which started happening around my 3yr mark. But I desire to be able to finger pick as beautifully as Marco and will not stop until I accomplish the goal and you shouldn't either Leyton Waugh. Never Stop, NEVER EVER. 15mins a day for one year religiously, and you can get paid for whatever skill you set out to master. Test this theory and be amazed just like I was when I put it to the test. And I won't say good luck because luck has nothing to do with it. Hard work and dedication does though. So go get it Leyton. It's already yours because you want it to be.

Man your vids are helping me so much with music production. I got a Guitar to Midi converter but with your chords my productions are getting so much more emotional & right in the feel I'm looking for. You're a great guitarist that knows the right chords and progressions to make really, really deep and emotional music. Thanks a lot for sharing these lessons, really took everything to the next level. Especially when you put these rhythms inside a behringer model D or other moog material. Even the novation A station sounds like a massive, professional synthesizers with these progressions. Thanks again!

Marco Cirillo is a power house in guitar parlance. For 47 odd years I've been playing the astoundingly beautiful guitar, strumming & singing along with my friends, but eager to learn the fingerstyle. Marco has made it so simple, I've almost mastered this session, initially I thought the chords & finger picking was hard, but a very patient Mark Cirillo made me achieve this course with flying colors....this video is only a tip of the iceberg, Mark has many fingerstyle guitar videos check them out, like & subscribe to them....kudos to you Mark Cirillo you are a GUITAR GIANT. Thanks Mark.
