Simple fix to faulty or poorly working gauges - JEEP Wrangler YJ : Ep 20

92 YJ - All gauges just quit, including speedometer. All working just fine, then made quick stop to pick up something, never cut engine off. Few moments later, I notice they had all quit.

Replace the fuse and clean the hole it goes in

I was hoping to find what wire in the wiring harness goes to actual gauge. But good info here.

Thanks. I'll try this, as the only thing that works properly is the clock. Fuel gauge reads accurately, until you turn the engine on, then it jumps up 1/4 tank higher. The oil pressure, engine temp do nothing, and the voltmeter needle constantly vibrates at +/- 14 volts.

Thanks for the tip Ken, I'm going to give it a try today, my issue with my gauges only seems to happen when the lights are on. do you think this is still a grounding issue? they all work fine when I first start it up and hit the lights, but then come on and off as I drive for minutes at a time. When the gauge lights go out, the needles all drop with them. Cheers!

+GINNY THE JEEP yes I believe that is the grounds, clean all of them. There is also 1 in front of your drivers seat on the other side of the firewall in the engine room. Look up the rest in the manual, I don’t have it here where I am , good luck!👍

Check your fuse for the cluster, it probably is a good fuse but clean the fuse prongs and also clean ( scrape) the slot where the fuse goes into its just probably not making a good enough connection.

I am going to check mine right now. My gas gauge is only one working at the moment. Nope that was not it. I don't have that on my YJ.

Remove your cluster and remove gauges from circuit board take a light sand paper and clean off the board from grime, replace, it worked with mine
