At 66 this makes the most sense for me. Have tried for increased speed in the past (current 95 Avg), but a consistant swing gets away from me if I try any faster, working on smash in now my goal. Will put this into practice. Thank you for the realistic approach. Enjoy and learn from each vid.

This is the most sensible video I've seen in ages everyone is advocating fast swing speeds which is great if you are young and flexible
@ademiranda23 жыл бұрын
flexibility is the easiest thing to work on at any age though. The problem is the average amateur doesn't want to put in the work in improving their fitness. Stretching every day, rotational exercises with weights, and cardio can go a long way alongside technical skill improvement to increase distance.

Same question that I had a month ago on when to extend the right elbow and in what direction in order to achieve “proper extension”
@Britton09322 жыл бұрын
This might be the most important golf instruction that I have ever received. I was swinging my driver between 105 and 108. I was driving, on average, about 245 with a max of around 270. A lot of those drives would find their way to the left (I’m left handed), and some of those would disappear into the trees with a huge banana slice. I am getting a bit older and I want to keep playing this game for a long time, I’m 47. I watched this video and decided to slow my swing down to 95 mph (like the LPGA). It took a couple rounds and a few range sessions to get used to, but, on Sunday, I hit 3 drives further than I have ever hit a golf ball. According to Arccos - 288.7yards, 290.4 yards, 290.1 yards and if I hadn’t miss-hit 2 drives in the 220 yd range, my average would have been 270yds (MY OLD MAX) Slowing my swing has allowed me to control the width of my swing and this control my hands and the club head. I am now CRUSHING my drives, so thank you. Now I have to find the video, from you, that will transform my under 100 yard shots. THANK YOU MATT!!!!

Mr. Short Game, As you can see I had commented on your video 5 days ago, As I had just started playing golf in May of this year I have been struggling all along in particular with driver, hitting it all over the face and all over the place. Since watching this video I am finally getting both pretty good consistency (relatively in the fairway or just off) and slightly more distance. This has been the most helpful golf video I have watched on KZbin to day and man I have watched a ton of them! Thanks a million - Dom

This is exactly what I've been thinking about. I was trying to max out my speed, and causing a lot of back problems. I've never been a flexible person in my entire life, and I'm now more interested in maxing out my game as much as I can without overemphasizing distance.

Interesting - I have had back problems too so your comment resonates. Maybe I'll give this a try too.
@mrudd393 жыл бұрын
Matt, I think you are spot on with trying to get the most efficiency out of what you have. More people should really be trying to hit the ball in the center than trying to swing fast. Also, I'm not getting 40 yards of roll-out on my municipal course's fairways... 😆

The one particular swing I had this past fall was a relaxed extension at impact. I have not been able to capture that feeling since . What you say leads me to that special memory I can’t want to forget. Your swing today reminds me of my memorable swing. I need to ask where are the worn marks on your golf shirts when you take the backswing? I think your nose is near the top of your left shoulder. Hogan never showed his worn marks on his golf shirts. Great tip thanks

I have geared down my swing speed 🤗 70% to 80% swing speed and working the ball with fades and draws with a better ball strike which results in less distances but scores are par or birdies in 2021 instead of par, birdies, bogeys and double bogeys in 2020 🤗 using a low compression ball is helping ✅

Your drill is Harvey Penick’s magic move...Penick’s magic move was basically initiating the downswing and move to the ball by placing the heel back to the ground and moving weight transfer a little more on the left side. The key however is when you are doing this to allow the elbow to move down to the hip.

so for us shorter guys, does it help to stand a little more than shoulder width apart to get our arms away from our body? I have recently changed my stance in terms of having a wider stance even for the short irons so I can get more rotation around to generate more speed.
