@@TheMedschoolGuy Regarding Indian teachers only few I think 5% maybe some what high 10% are highly educated and talented has knowledge in real life, all other are B.E graduates from private engineering college or chosen physics for having some degree in hand they don't know anything just blaberring instructions in book. Also I don't know how can we expect our teachers to show us some experiments if our school only wants portion completion and tests to be done on time.

@23:46 this statement is partially true. There is no acceleration related to the simple harmonic motion, so for the purposes of demonstrating this principal the statement is absolutely correct. Still, there are two components that make up accelerating that we feel at the bottom of the swing. Because we feel them we should understand why we feel acceleration that is not directly from the simple harmonic motion we are discussing. First, gravity is pulling us down while the rope/chain is holding us up. We feel this every time we are at rest, so it might be easy to miss. This accelerating causes the motion of the swing. Second, the centripitalal acceleration at the bottom of the swing is pulling is in the same direction as gravity, adding to the tension on the rope. The total accelerating is calculated by adding the two mg + ( v^2 / ρ ) Mass times gravity plus velocity squared over rho, where rho is the radius of the swing or the length of the chain. The higher we swing the more of this we feel.

You can use pendulum based clocks in Space as its not really "zero" gravity, you just don't have a dominate gravitational force to use. We also haven't developed the mathematical model for such a clock .

The way you explained the mass and spring constant in the ecuation, in an intuitive way, is such a valuable mental exercise. Whenever you see an equation, it's helpful to take a moment and understand in some intuitive way why each value is where it is. Why is time in that equation? Why is something divided by mass? What does it mean for the radius to be squared? In many cases people can work out why these inputs are there, and if you ask them to try and explain how changing that value would affect the result, they'll frequently get it right, even if they can't explain why they're right.

Excellent, thank you. Took this in physics 1980s a good refresh. If I recall pendulums that swing North to South become figure eights do to rotation of Earth vs East West stay straight. Dr Feynman had a lecture on this as well as Dr Julius Miller.

The other function whose second derivative is proportional to itself is the exponential. That's what you get (in the small angle approximation) when you start the pendulum at the top.

If your pendulum weight was made out of stabilized neutronium, it absolutely would have an effect. Of course, no string would be able to hold it. So, the weight of a pendulum does have an effect, albeit an incredibly tiny and essentially immeasurable one for the typical weight of a pendulum on Earth. You're really getting into the nitty-gritty with your lessons, and regardless of my peanut gallery criticisms, I think you're doing a good job with that. Thank you!

I wish I found these videos while I was taking my physics classes for the past two semesters XD It's a great review though. Also after taking my final physics class and first calculus class at the same time this past semester I think it is super important to take calculus first!! It makes things a lot easier to understand if you know how to use a derivative!!!

20:38 Big mass = longer period. Forgive my not connecting this dot with the entire derived equation which told us that the period does NOT depend on the mass of the object. I love these videos. I am relatively new to them and maybe don't know this particular quirk, but why does she have that round table? It's not very good for writing on paper that overlaps its edges.

@ 3:00 , why is this the biggest pendulum in the world? the Gamow Physics Tower has a pendulum that's nearly 40m with a mass of 166kg and a period 12.6s. Oregon's pendulum's mass is however 406kg but only 27m while Paris has 2 really tall ones at 67m, w/ period 16.5 secs

Actually a plucked string is harmonic motion, but not simple harmonic motion. A point on a string moves as a sum of triangle waves. Here's a string problem: Put a stop on one side of a string so that the middle of the string just touches it when straight. The middle of the string can move to one side, but not the other. Pluck the string. What sound results?

Cars have a harmonic balancer designed to reduce vibration and keep things running smoothly. Interestingly, the harmonic balancer in cars is round and uses rubber to absorb the vibrations.

If you wonder why the French gave the meter its length so the path around the Earth would be 40,000 km... The French also wanted the 360 degrees circle to be replaced by a 400 degrees circle. If you do that, travelling 1 degree in latitude.... corresponds to 100 km! (unfortunately, the 400 degrees circle never became the standard)

Simple Harmonic Motion, the basic Mechanism of Holographic Modulation Superspin. Calculus is the derived AM-FM Timing-spacing rate of change of pure relative e-Pi-i sync-duration motion that specifies the Temporal Superposition Singularity positioning in holographic QM-TIMESPACE. Can anyone explain me why static friction is involved in equation of circular motion not kinetic friction. It seems like kinetic friction should act because the object is in motion.🤔

If it is rolling without gliding it means that the surface of the ball is not gliding against the ground, if this is what you're referring to. So at each instant the static friction "pushes" forward / rolls the ball. If you think of a ball on ice or something with no grip you can imagine that there would only be gliding and no rolling. Hope it helps!

It's not that easy for me to get the whole thing but i think i got the main idea, i didn't went to a school for learn english; i did it by myself and over time, so i don't know all the words and the Google translator suchs to translate certain technical words or terms, but i enjoy the lessons and i find 'em very useful in the life in general. Dear Ms Dianna, at 2:50 you said that the Foucault Pendulum changes its pass as it swings. I thought that the pendulum swing stayed in position, and the earth moved relative to the pendulum. The pendulum only seems to change its path. My apologies if I'm wrong. Edit; you did say as the earth revolves. But still, shouldn't you have said the pendulum path "appears" to change?

Standard comment: complement followed by criticism :-) (hopefully more suggestion than criticism) Love the series, interesting examples, a different take. However, it is time to talk about significant digits. You have been all over the place with this concept. I understand the need with your audience. However, at this point, they do need to understand the difference between a gravitational constant of 10 versus 9.8 versus 9.81. An answer given with five significant digits that uses 10 is fundamentally incorrect. Interesting corollary: why do we often see three significant digits. Why, when I’m designing circuits that cost millions of dollars to evaluate, do I use more than 10? Etc. Keep up the good work

So if you could remove as much friction as possible it would just swing almost forever? Why don't we use a large vacuum chamber with a pendulum generator? I'm sure it's not fun to calculate resistance but I wish it was talked about more. Every math problem being in a perfect environment is kind of boring
