Only music can do this. I bought this album, and while it’s nowhere near my favourite album, I totally get that feeling of connection where an album just accompanies you through life, and always will. Some of us are doomed never to be able to shake off the past. Luckily, as I get older, the memories seem to become more of a comfort than a burden.

@StormCentre884 жыл бұрын
@@robertoabrate3456 Looks like - according to Wikipedia - we both may be wrong. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simple_Minds As there they're listed as a Scottish Rock band. Taking all that in and thinking about the fact that; *A)* Given their punk rock backgrounds (Johnny and the Self Abusers) and also how they successfully leaned on a relatively new (for the times) style of experimental computerized sounds that, in a production if not visual sense, effectively placed the electronic keyboards and/or synthesizers right up front with the lead singer’s voice; which itself often conveyed the lyrics (particularly in the New Gold Dream album) with that spiritually atmospheric texture (“the voice from the Gods above”) that was Kerr’s unmistakable trademark. *B)* Some of Simple Mind’s other albums (such as “Sparkle In The Rain”) and songs (such as “Don’t You Forget About Me”) could easily be described as New Wave Pop/Rock; even though the New Gold Dream album could itself be described as more New Wave Electronic/Pop than Rock. I think Simple Minds are probably best described as a New Wave Electronic Pop/Rock group whom were extremely talented/unique. I have all their albums, and (from 1984 - 1995) was extremely fond of Simple Minds. Particularly the New Gold Dream album and the track “Hunter and The Hunted”.

I bought this album in November 1982. I already had their hit single "promised you a miracle". Imagine: crisis for 5 years, high unemployment among the young people. imminent danger of WWIII. And the atom bomb. Therefore also the rise of punk music. As a protest against the generation that had caused this. But that music was not positive. We were the beaten generation. And then ...... a new gold dream. Wow! the Simple Minds brought us faith and hope. Hope for better times. The 80s was not always the golden years ....but this album! Yeah!!!!
