This song has always brought tears to my,eyes as a person of Irish ancestry. I never made it to Belfast but my brother was there in the late 70s and my spouse was there in the early 2000s but I did have a brief visit to Northern Ireland and wish I could have made it to the Republic of Ireland. As Americans we can never fully understand but can still feel the pain of our sisters and brothers in Ireland. U2 and Sinead shared that in their music. R.I.P., Daughter of Ireland. You’ve earned your Peace.

I was posted to Belfast as an 18 year old soldier. It damn near destroyed me even to this day, and I am 50 this year. The conflict was so stupid, a needless waste of many lives, including my friends. @@stephaniebaer1242 And I think many people who live there miss it too, Stephanie. Eight years on since I posted this comment and those villains in the shadows have continued to eat away at the bonds that truly make a culture and a people known to themselves in a way that's a little more divine knowledge than scientific knowledge. I was just at the grocery store not an hour and a half ago. And wouldn't you know it on the way there I had this tune (ie cd) blasting out the car driving down a street here in the States. And if I could've carried it in with me into the store I'd have done it, lol. Very inspiring. Long way of saying many feel the same. Another way of saying remain hopeful, because you never know what tomorrow brings. Reminds me of another great tune (ie In a Big Country) and lyric: "Pull up your head off the floor, come up screaming..." It's good to miss something beautiful. And I think surely, it must mean that the thing we miss is actually calling us and we feel that way because of it? That's a comforting thought: "Come back people! You've been gone a while...". Una voce angelica. Così fine . Così potente. Così bella .Solo da una grande sofferenza. Grazie Sinnead. Ora puoi volare libera.

Her voice was never about perfection it was about the raw emotion that some are lucky to never feel about what that individual feels at that time that's what makes a song relatable that's what us Irish are about and she portrayed it every lyric, sound and feeling 😢

The whole performance cuts right through to the sole. We all suffer loneliness and depression from time to time, some cope others don’t, I do …….just 😢
