When I was a kid in the 80s, whenever Simple Minds came on, I was glued to the television. There was something incredibly magnetic about Jim Kerr. The way he looks into the camera with those eyes. Such a fantastic singer and band. I'll always love this band. 💕

Jim Kerr is one of the most underrated front men all time. Now 50 years old, I adore music, I loved them in the 80's (when I was a teenager) but it is only now I am really appreciating their truly magnificent and really well produced music (New Gold Dream is just beautiful) but I now find it mind boggling how I never quite appreciated how captivating Jim Kerr is a a performer. That's something you are just born with, its not something you can teach and he just 'has it'. Their music is now ageing beautifully as good music does.

THIS is literally my favorite song ever! When they played in Rochester NY in '86, I got my way to the front of the stage. When this song started, I was so freaking excited. During the chorus, he came to our side of the stage, crouched down and held my hand. Not sure how I didn't pass right out. 33 years later, I can remember every moment...

Yes I still like this. It feels like the weather, the climate, God, something powerful and mystical raining down! The Land The Land. Gold. Some ancient religion. Just the cover of the album. That’s IT. I still love this, 35!years later. It’s elevating and breathtaking and majestic. ECSTATIC majesty! It’s like British Isles Kings and Queens (no blondes!!!!) and the crystal lakes and droplets of rain being prizmed by the sun. No rainbows. Just the sun and the rain turning to crystal beading (Excalibur!) and the green of the land and dark sky.

I traveled to England as a teenager in 1987. I took my Sanyo portable radio and cassette player to record music from the radio there. It was 3 am and I found this alternative radio station, there I learned about the Ramones, The Cure and Simple Minds! They played Speed your love and I thought it was the best thing ever! I wanted to jump and dance! But i couldn’t it was too late. Back in America I showed all my recordings to my friends.

I've got the feeling that Simple Minds were really connected with something unreachable and undefinable through combative and poetic creations. They had a cast iron belief in the power of love crossing great distances of this world to reach a mysterious aim. Markedly, the dynamic of their songs could evoke a titanic feeling which always helps the character to overcome impassable places in his head to open the fabulous visions of a world full of promises and discoveries. And yes run until we come, until we be my love... When the time comes, I hope your flame will travel to me !

These guys had it all and even here they have more class than U2 . Judgement of the highest not cheap . Sons and Fascination and Glitteruing Dream can still be heard in all he shifting levels of sound here ! What titans they were !

Not a fan of SM here but i love this song so badly. Some weeks ago i was driving in the heart of the night from my town to my house on the coast. I took the longest route instead of the highway and drove at very low speed respecting the limits, so a 100mins trip became a 4 hours trip. It started at 1.00am and i arrived at 5.00am just in time to see the dawn on the sea. There was nobody on my way, just me and the fires in motion. That was magic. I think this song captures this magic very well. Did i already told you that i love it so badly? :)

Wow... Nostalgia...
