When Forbes left, that's when I knew it was over. Don't You Forget About Me was an indication, but seeing him gone by the next album? Forget it. Reason i got into this band, long before the stadium years, was because of Forbes.

'ferrers': - what are you gabbling on about!? I love early minds stuff. 'The American' is one of my top 10 songs from the band. I was simply stating that just because Forbes is no longer in the band then it does not make them worthless. The new bassist, a Scot, is very good & is into the early Minds material. As for Mel (Gaynor) the drummer, he's still there!! Think b4 u write!

I often wondered if SM shouldn't have become an instrumental band, especially live. Fantastic bass line !!! Singer will never be one of my fav front men, no idea about how he is in daily life, but on stage he was rather irritating, both gestures and voice, equalled only by Bono. These guys have what I would call the Messiah's syndrome. But sales figures apparantly indicate I'll never really get in touch with the taste of the broader public...

Come one as a pop group they were really good, at least in the first half of their carrier. And live they have a very good feel what works without cheating their own songs. Compare to the quatsch from nowadays, I rather listen to them.
