Simple Modern DIY Floating Night Stand

Welcome back to the Schooner Creek Designs Woodshop! Today we construct a beautiful set of floating nightstands for a client on the Oregon Coast! This floating nightstand is essentially an open-faced box mounted directly to wall offering a simple, clean and minimalistic bed side shelf for charging your phone, storing a book or showing off a small lamp. This floating nightstand project is a perfect piece to take on as a "do-it-yourself" project at home! You can make this same nightstand out of a variety of available material for a low cost all while being proud of creating something extremely useful and practical for yourself! What is the best angle for a French cleat? Or does it vary based on dimensions/weight of the piece? Awesome job by the way. Simple and elegant

Hey Jon, I would say it depends on the project, however I cut them usually 25° which allows them secure enough connection in my experience. Really they could be any angle you feel comfortable holding the load and geometry of whatever piece you're working with!
