Maybe this was a little too big for a "simple" base, but hopefully you get the idea of the design. Let me know what you think about the video if i can improve the format.

Where do you get the thin pillar blocks from in survival? Are they workbench blocks or is there a specific skill I need?

We set up this base, in cobblestone, for our Day 7 horde, in one day! I did have to reference the video a couple times to make sure I was doing it right. I was so scared of spacing pillars too far, lol! It worked FANTASTICALLY for our first horde night. It was myself, my husband, and our daughter (this was her first time playing). She used a bow and arrow in the middle, and he and I melee'd stuff on the sides. We killed most stuff by the time it got to the end. We had maybe 3 zombies rage on the pillars below, but none did enough damage to take them out. I also wanted to say this method worked perfectly for my computer that can't handle seeing the whole horde and regularly would freak out. But this time I was fine and able to attack with much more accuracy. Thanks for making this!

This is a quick thank you for the video. My wife and I play 7d2d casually-we're pretty much newbs after many hours of playing, lol. This video helped me build our first horde base with ease. Thank you!

I use this general concept for my horde bases regularly. The side halls for melee support are a good idea I haven't really done but there are some points on which I could advise: 1: Spread those "catwalk blocks" out by one more square. Eventually all the zombies WILL run over a single block gap, defeating the purpose, but no zombie will skip over a two block gap (except maybe spiders, but whatevs.) You can actually extend this "catwalk" out quite a distance, giving you plenty of room to gun foes down with your weapon of choice for extremely fast, full XP zombie grinding. 2: instead of putting spikes on the roof, try using bars for the roof itself, at least where you plan to stand. This allows vultures to come right down into striking range instead of tearing through defenses where you can't see them. One or two good shots and they're done...and you get the full XP. It used to be a pain because you had to forge some bars but now you can just use block shapes and upgrade as desired. 3: if you've got the materials, you might as well fill in the supports and make your base a solid block instead of pillars. In the event zoms fall, they're quite likely to bash on your base a bit and if you lose more than a couple pillar blocks, your entire base could come crashing down. Fill it in and just dissuade them in the first place. 4: The point (to me anyway) of a good horde base is to let you slaughter zombies as quickly as possible to rocket up in levels. To that end, it can actually be more beneficial to use wood blocks and upgrade them for the considerable XP you get. Since wood frames craft almost instantly and higher tier cubes take considerably longer, this can help you establish a bare minimum structure much more quickly and then upgrade the most critical blocks as materials become available. Once you find a nailgun, your XP bar can SOAR with this method. It's almost cheating, really. Almost. 5: Once you can make them, try using a hatch on the floor at your position instead of just bar blocks. Even the wood hatch can take a hit, is not incredibly tough to make and allows easy entry and exit while still causing the zoms to path properly AND allows a perfect one block window for you to butcher the beasts with extreme prejudice. It's easily upgradable all the way to a steel vault hatch later too. It's good to see some folks finally catching on to one of the best styles of horde base; I was wondering if I'd have to start making videos just to point this out to people because I NEVER see folks build bases like this.

I would definitely recommend putting bars down on the floor instead so you can shoot arrows down on zombies attacking the pillars, atleast for a team
@dra6o0n2 жыл бұрын
And electric wires around the pillars and ways to repair them through the floor. The catwalk rails allows you to melee and repair through the gaps.

Thank you so much for this tutorial. My friends and me just started the game, and have made every mistake possible. We just barely defended our first base, with all our stuff in it, on our second Bloodmoon. Hopefully my new hoard base will keep us safe.
@ThailandDantotherescue11 ай бұрын
Easy to upgrade that base... use the side corridors to hold electric fence posts and maybe dart traps. The main corridor is actually 3 blocks wide, easy to hang a few overhead blade traps. I like ending their run with an iron door placed horizontally so I can drop them below if I need a breather. symmetrical base

I think building off this with altering blocks has a lot of potential. Turning the pillars into corner pillars that are clustered together could really clear up a lot of the cramped space below along with replacing a lot of the floor with bars or something else you can shoot through. Using the plates or half blocks for the walls opening up the hallways was a great idea too

Definitely trying this when I get my server for our group. But for now, we've all been playing our own solo worlds, getting used to the new changes, and sorta waiting for the 20.1 update to do our server. We're waiting because we don't want to build any massive projects yet, not knowing what blocks will be nerfed, etc. But I am positive this willdo great all alpha. Great job and thanks!

When you put the ladder in that direction 12:53 you actually run the risk of getting stuck. What i do when building bases with a ladder close to the edge like that, i put bars along the edge as a railing so you will not fall off by accident, and i rotate the hatch in such a way that you won't get stuck on it (opposite of what you do here). Overall i like the design. I would also dig out the ground beneath the base and fill it with stronger blocks to increase its stability.
@mistermelancholy76982 жыл бұрын
Yes I like making ladders your way too lol. Ladders and jump/platforming bases work surprisingly well. You can build a simple raised bridge that you either have to jump block to block to get to or use a ladder thats raised up to jump to, can also place random blocks along the ground a little ways away from the bridge or tower and the zombies will all pile onto them thinking they can get to you but can't that makes them easier to shoot. There defeated the game with like 30 blocks

If you have 4 players who maxes out Robotics, basically use Sledge turrets and make a row of 8 turrets basically knocking zombies off a platform.

It's impractical. The reasons are simple: 1- there's a limited amount of Zs spawn in the whole server 2- shooting from side means you risk friendly fire and sideshooters will have more problems hitting the Zs, it's good for the first nights tho 3- a four corridors (cross like) with the base in the center would be better; 3 persons per side (12 people) one aside the other shooting each one nearly in front of each other.

Odd question; do you know if the new window blocks can be filled with glass or bulletproof glass? Working on a base, some fantastic looking windows are now possible, but they're sitting open.
@PixelLifeGaming3 жыл бұрын
Probably not. All Building Blocks take up one building space. You cant put a block inside of another block.

While searching, I did find an option for windows with glass. I think under the regular crafting menu. I don't remember what you needed to build them though.

No. The only frame you can pick up is the basic frame block

11:12 Actually since they broke zombie AI pathing with ladders they atm won't climb ladders that have no blocks above them so you're good even if it goes the whole way down.

Depends on your game stage tbh. You could be high level but need to abandon the base earlier date. Slower level = longer lasting. really depends on your game settiongs

quick question could you put 0.025 meter double pole in front of the double poles that the zombies are meant to smash on? the zombies dont see them as blocks so they will still path correctly while your "smashing entrance" for zombies now has double health?
