Another reason to either capture or document receipts sooner, rather than later... many receipts are printed with thermal devices. Thermal receipts deteriorate rather quickly. --- Great video. Great advice. Love the channel!

If desired, one could keep records electronically online in Google Drive or Dropbox or Evernote. Evernote allows also the ability to take screenshots of documents with phone and then store in folders you create.

Hi, I would like to say first that I soooo... Appreciate both of your videos and this channel. I'm happy that you guys expanded your info to include this part of the trucking industry business. My fiance' and I are both fairly new to the industry and have been dabbling into the idea of purchasing our own truck in the future. I would like to know more about what kind of different options we may have to look at when considering a jump of this measure. We are currently going to be jumping to a company that contracts out to O/O.. And they then have trucks they own and hire drivers to run them in which we have been told we would be responsible for our own taxes..a 1099 I believe will need to be filed? Is this right? And if so , we are being told we are company drivers but yet will act as O/O.. Does this sound right? I'm so new to this that I'm not sure what type of driver to call us...lol Do you know what type it is? I sure wish I could watch a video that explained all the different types of driving positions/senerios that there are available to a driver out here! I know about being a company driver... The basics, I know a little about what an O/O Is , but what I really need is to know all the different ways there are to classify a certain driver and the types of positions that are available.

any tips on doing the accountant yourself?
@Shadow0fd3ath242 жыл бұрын
Quickbooks/truckers report/keep trucking ELD, and then Transfer....those alone will cover 95% of paperwork and is under $175 a month, with each truck at $25 a month up to 5 trucks

Great information and ideas. It'd be great if I had someone who could do the paperwork and file. Thanks.

Hope it helps some. Try a high school or college student who needs some extra money. Cheaper than a bookkeeper, but competent.

Dave is a lucky man to have you do the back office and admin work. Yes it is a pain in the ... but good records does prevent problems down the road and it will always pay for itself. Furthermore, keeping them forever will get the Tax man off your back and if you really want to destroy any, apply for an authorization to do so but be ready for an audit of those years. Then with the authorization letter in hand, the government agencies cannot come after you for any of those years. Personally, I keep them forever in a storage shed outside. Yes they are chewed up by time and mice but the records are there and I'm not trying to hide anything. Just a thought.

Excellent point. I do just that as well. I just keep them more or less forever. Why not? Always better safe than sorry. We have a huge bank of them. The old ones burn nicely though.:)

We just started our on company and I will be the one doing the record keeping, but I just have a question, maybe I'm just not understanding, How do you keep and save the receipts from fading? Do you make a copy of each receipt (individually) and then staple them together (by category of course)? I need some helllllp plsssss
@Shadow0fd3ath242 жыл бұрын
Picture them and send to Transfer and print em there, or keep em on your phone and print them weekly

hi I'm a company driver and I decided to stop my company from taking 2 cents out of my per mile rate to pay me the perdiem. now that I need to file for my perdiem..am I OK as long as I have a copy of my logs? or will I need more documents to claim my perdiem when I file my taxes.

As a company driver, should I keep receipts of stuff I buy from locks, work gloves, grocery purchases, records of all miles driven, etc?
@Shadow0fd3ath242 жыл бұрын
Just total monthly miles and company used equipment bought with your own money. And receipts for fuel if they require it
