I needed this video so much, Rowena. To be honest, I don't even know what self-care is... There are things that I do that I think are 'self-care' for myself but genuinely till this point, i'm still trying to figure out what I can do to really make myself less stressed. Your video reminds me a lot of the atomic habits book- and thank you so much for that :)

If this helps I started with what a human needs to be healthy. Kind of like treating myself as my own child or pet. So humans need some healthy food, sleep, movement, sunlight, fun, and socialization. I started there and experimented with what I like in each bucket. On rough days I can combine many of these into just walking around a pond and looking at the turtles at lunch, keeping water nearby all the time, chatting with someone during my commute, and keeping some healthier snacks stocked by my office desk. Sleep is a struggle for me.

@@tiryaclearsong421 thanks for the reply! honestly, I feel like I personally have double standards.... when it comes to myself, I'm a lot harsher and stricter- but to others, I encourage them to rest and compliment them!! I feel like a part of me doesn't really know how to be kind to myself but I'm learning. thank you so much for your advice/tips, Tirya! 🧡

For me, having a clean space is an act of self care for me and my husband! So I'm trying to implement the "empty sink/clean kitchen" night rule, as well as 1-2 loads of laundry per day! It's lead to a lot less stress especially when I go to cook dinner for us after long days at work! I need to focus on making my self care a little more movement focused. I've been using video games as a relaxer and it's not beneficial because it makes me very lethargic. Thanks for this video!

My biggest struggle with self care is sleep. I'm omw to mastering a horrible time management (and depression) solution. I have only been able to be productive at night/early morning (10pm-7am ish) and have been fighting myself to reset, wake up early, be productive, sleep early. I was living every day with guilt and regret. Instead, I've leaned into what my mind and body are telling me to do. Thankfully, I work from home and take online classes so I am able to work "3rd shift" and take my time getting things done with the silence of the night. It's been working! P.s. sunrise coffee hits different when it's a pick me up instead of a wake me up

Hi Rowena! I really love how you take time out of your day to solely focus on your spiritual practice. I used to do this with my family when I was a kid. As an adult, most times I just do a quick little prayer on my way out of the door. This morning, I got up early and gave my undivided attention to my prayer and I feel so much better! Thank you for reminding me how important it is to take care of my soul💜

Thank you so much for walking through how you untie yourself from your phone while in a distance relationship. My partner lives a few hours away, and I feel awkward not being online until the moment I go to bed because I want her to know I care about her. Seeing someone else talk about how to tackle "put your phone away before bed" self-care advice while being in an LDR is very valuable. 🤩

Congrats on setting apart an hour in the morning for your spiritual practice. Last year in the spring, I started waking up 30 minutes earlier and made prayer my first non-negotiable of the day. It was a big deal because I am a night owl and have to be at work for 7:25 AM. But I did it. I need it. I take a lot longer on Saturday and Sunday because I have the time. Now if I could just master a good evening routine and go to bed at a sane time, I could add the extra 30 minutes I wish I had; an hour per morning would allow me to go deeper into what is most important for me. It also makes me a more confident and a kinder person for the rest of the day. Progress, not perfection is a real thing. Glad we are both making progress. Thank you for the inspiration. My after-work time needs help, haha.

Love this 💗 I feel like you’re one of my self care teachers, and I’m so grateful to be on this journey with you. Reading “work clean” right now and one of my big takeaways resonates with what you’re sharing: plan intentionally to make time for what you actually need, and do whatever you have to do to make it happen. A framing from my therapy work is “parenting” myself. Rather than just working late in a reactive, scattered way, I step outside of myself and try to care for myself like a loving parent-thinking logically and compassionately about what I need, and how I can get there. 💗

I actually recently put my phone charger by my desk instead of the bedside table and replaced it with a novel I am reading. And in the morning, I tell myself that I don't really need to know what time it is and as such don't need to check my phone (I am a student from home, so I can sleep as much and as little as I want), and I have made sure to read at least 1 page every day. This 1 page often turns into 10-20 pages instead, this is a way to activate my brain as well as check on my condition. If I read less than usual, I know that I need to care for my needs and have some alone time that day! Am I reading a lot more, I know that I am in my best condition and should focus on doing a lot of schoolwork as well as cleaning and doing chores I usually find mentally exhausting :)

A few of them here: 1. Prepare my wardrobe and bag for the next day the night before. 2. Consume videos on alternate devices apart from my mobile phone. 3. Avoid caffeine on days that I don’t have to work.

i been watching your videos for a long time, and i just wanted to share a goofy thought I have. Youre vids aesthetics and general vibe is completely opposite of mine, yet i still connect and am able to gain valuable insights from these often very clean and "hipster" chic type videos. But I'm a lifetime metal and punk fan. since birth. so all I know is like, heavy loud music, black everything, studs chains spikes patches the whole nine. and I use these videos to hype me up in starting my own business being a virtual assistant for punk and goth small biznz. I just thought you would find it amusing that even peeps way out of demographic have benefited from your vids. And i hope you have the most wonderful life.

Mine is eating more mindfully! I usually put on a KZbin video and basically inhale my food. With mindful eating, I get to appreciate the food I eat and feel more full/satisfied (which lessens unnecessary snacking and indigestion lol). It may seem weird at first since meal times are often viewed as downtimes so we need to "maximize" it by multitasking, but it's nice to view it more as nourishing myself and giving myself more energy for the day :)
