This went up the day after my baby, Candycorn, died. Never in my life did I expect to get attached to a snake, but she was a wonderful pet. So pretty and so polite. I had her trained a little bit too. For anyone thinking about getting a pet snake, cornsnakes have a lot of personality.

I actually love my snake , I left the cage completely open a few weeks ago for a night , And she was still in her cage the next morning - Still questioning wether she had an adventure throughout the night 😂 I also left it open once ( Not very good at remembering to close things clearly ) for about and hour and found her in my old makeup bag was a bit of a surprise as I didn't even know she was out 😂

Thank you for a very educational video. I almost purchased a baby corn snake last week and I never owned a snake before. Hence the reason I’m now watching videos. My only fear is that I own two German Shepherds and of course, I would do anything to keep them all safe but I heard these little guys are great escape artists. These are just such wonderful pets. I recently, from a breeder, acquired a 3 month old corn snake with whom I absolutely fell in love with. She is just the most gentle creature I have ever had the pleasure of spending time with. A question for people who have had corn snakes as pets, I know generally it says that they live quite a bit longer in captivity than in the wild, but how long do you, seasoned pet owners, find your corn snakes to live (considering that they are looked after well)?

What temperature should you put your corn snake in? Do these snakes need a certain humidity level? Can you use a heat lamp?
@fionashepley4785 жыл бұрын
About 85 for the warm side surface temperature. They need low humidity, no misting required. I would use a heat mat, ceramic heat emitter, or deep heat projector. Make sure any heat source is connected to a thermostat (I power is a good cheap one on Amazon) and measured by a digital thermometer

Great easy set up. My son and I are thinking about getting a corn snake. How often do you clean the tank? Do you replace the coconut fibre each cleaning?
@fionashepley4785 жыл бұрын
Aspen shavings are a lot better than coconut fibre, it holds burrows well. Coconut fibre can be dusty as well. Spot clean whoever you see poop. You can go a few months without fully changing the substrate. If you go bioactive you’ll never need to clean or change the substrate

@@fionashepley478 bioactive soil like terraforma?
@fionashepley4785 жыл бұрын
Warren DeSimone I haven’t heard of that. You can get one from the bio dude or make your own mix, just make sure it holds burrows. Organic top soil for part of it if you want plants. Maybe some playsand to help with drainage. Leaf litter. You also need a cleanup crew of tiny invertebrates such as isopods. I have a corn but I haven’t gone bioactive with her and know more about bioactive setups for leopard geckos.

Under the glass. Connect it to a thermostat, measure the temp with a digital thermometer, and elevate the tank for air flow so there’s a gap between the mat and the surface underneath it. I recommend aspen shavings (after quarantine on paper towel for the first six weeks), it holds burrows much better than dirt (unless you wanna go bioactive)
