I love how a jet can all of a sudden. Turn my imagination on, start it running and running. Trying to figure out every little detail.. Very cool Roy very cool.

When building from scratch the imagination is forced to be used to its full potential. Us dreamers will never get bored...ever. Cool boat, looks perfect for what it's intended for.

Crow is a great little sailing boat as I've seen in your other videos Roy. A guy I worked for many years ago built something similar and used to sail the Ern lakes here in Northern Ireland. He had to put a bowsprit on it to make it sail better, to balance the sails forward. He had a beautiful little inboard engine in it too, so quite and so charming. He also made a tent for the cockpit, wooden polls that connected in around the rails. He wouldn't sell it to me even though he was 78 years old and didn't use it much anymore...he said he just couldn't part with it, having had so many fond memories in it. He used it way more than his larger sailing boat, he told me. He said he could get to more places.

@pa_maj.MARTINI-van-MAN I think too, this gentleman had put a lot of thought into his small boat and with that, he could not part with it for the pride he felt in its development. I have considered a bow sprit and may add one after hearing your description. CROW likes her jib! In a hard press, I like how she slowly rounds up, but I can countrr with a touch of helm. This tells me I have the balance about right but that I could carry more sail forward as I can also draw in the mizzen to reballance! Interesting!!! AllthebestRoy

@ That's the beauty about building your own, Roy. You understand it better than anyone else and can make modifications if and when you like. Modifying a mass manufactured boat just doesn't feel so right and could make it lose value if ever selling it on at some point, which most do. What I found interesting was that he preferred sailing in this little boat more than his other boat, a lovely 25 footer. It was plywood too and very ornate looking as well. He didn't mention building the 25 footer though.

Roy you are genius ❤️👍👍. I miss Canada so much. Adriatic sea is nice but way too many boats, people, tourism etc... Thinking about building hard dinghy, might order your plans soon. Take care & God bless ❤.

@CaptainZG thanks, Captain! I always have loved Canada and appreciate where we live more as I age! I've come to realize that it would be hard to find untouched wilderness elsewhere and many never know the feeling of having a lake to themselves! Let me know when you are ready to do the build! Take care! AllthebestRoy

😂 😎😎👍🧙🏻♂️🇬🇧 love the designs. .. aquatic camping 🏕️ and trekking 🥾. These would do extreemly well in Canada, NZ the UK and above all Finlands lakes area ...where loads of famillies have cabins on tiny islands in the lakes there are thousands.. but you need to be able to keep the Mosquitos out Midges in the UK or you would get eaten alive. . 😂

@clivestainlesssteelwomble7665 thanks Clive, I use our CROW in Canada and she has fine screened ports and a screen to go over the cabin door for extra air at tight! Part of the reason I like designing small boats with cabins as I hate setting up tents! I watch NY buddies scramble from their open boat to shore to do the setup, and feel sorry! Lol! AllthebestRoy

Ŵell done, i really like the look of the multiple sails on this design, ive wanted to build a small boat and will at some point, i just might use some design elements you have used here, mainly the multi sails.

Great Scott! Just a hint, start collecting materials now. I have been fortunate to get free teak patio sets, a solid mahogany bed frame, to upcycle into boat trim/parts, and much more! All from the side of the road!!! AllthebestRoy

Hey Roy! This concept looks really interesting! How would you say does it compare to a Pareadox design?
@roydesignedthat2 күн бұрын
@maikelvoigt8236 Like Paradox, CROW can be sailed from inside the cabin, has a hull form that adds to her stability, and relies on stores, secured low in the hull for ballast! That said CROW feels like a 20ft boat for the amount of comfort her cabin offers! Matt designed his small Paradox with chine runners to be a simple, safe way for a person to do serious adventuring! He did a great job! Thanks for comparing my CROW! AllthebestRoy

@karenmurray3098 Rubbing it in, Karen! Lol! Actually, I love our winters, perfect boat building time and I also had a realization when we trailered DIANNE'S ROSE down to Texas! Without our winters and spring melts, we would not have the countless lakes!!! AllthebestRoy

Why a yawl, y'all? Why a scow?" he said with a scowl.
@roydesignedthat3 күн бұрын
@williamwoolcock Yawls are great to break down larger sail areas into manageable sections. The mainsail is a Gunter rig as well to shorten spar lengths. I can raise the whole rig with sails in about 20 minutes and be sailing. Also there is no mast post to intrude into the cabin so that the whole queen berth is open! The tabernacle sits on 3 laminates of shelf or deck beam. Scows are the best way to get a big boat in a short stance. CROW is very comfortable. You may have seen the clip in the video where my 6ft 4in tall buddy and I are sailing from inside the cabin! Excuse the sloppy mizzen! Lol! AllthebestRoy
