I've been playing online the last 6 weeks and using poker tracker the last two weeks. I was consistently losing until about a week ago when I started recognizing the fish, and just basically when they're isolated, I play my hands face up. Bet big if I have a good hand, fold if I don't. Never bluff. I've done a complete 180 the last week.

The problem w low stakes is that no one folds so you’re playing multi way pots w less equity. At 1-2 you simply wait for a hand and then value bet it. Anything else is fancy play syndrome.

That bonus tip happened to me yesterday. I hit full-house on turn, the river completed the straight draw. I shoved all-in, and to their credit they took time to think about it first, but ultimately they called with a rivered straight. Cha-ching!

Hey Nathan, love your videos and thanks so much for sharing your poker knowledge. I just tripled my initial deposit on PokerStars playing micro stakes games. I had learned a lot of these concepts from other pros during my first foray into the game in 2016. The way you explain things, and especially how you CONTINUALLY REINFORCE your lessons revealed to me that I already had a great foundation at the game and then it built upon that. It’s not some “secret thing”. My biggest issue was confidence. Your videos are helping me get my confidence at the table! Especially how you laugh and joke around when you’re explaining things, it shows you actually love the game! Anyway I’m gushing a bit but I had to say thanks, and wanted to ask if you had any videos specifically talking about confidence/mental game either free or paid in your university. Thanks again!

@@BlackRain79Poker I’m in Ontario and can’t play poker like I used to on PokerStars. We are now segregated in our own app which is only players in Ontario. There are barely any games now. Is there any way around this? I Was considering playing live games but don’t have the bankroll yet for $1/$2. Any tips would be appreciated (VPN?)

3x isolates no one and you play 6way flop and if you bet 8 on a AK8 bord, you get called by Kx. Not sure who is the fish there.

I'm really quite conflicted now. Nathan in other videos and also in your free cheat sheet you say that the way to crush the microstakes is to play a TAG style (top 20% of hands in 6max and top 15% of hands in a full ring). But now you're saying to get into as many pots as possible with them with a much wider range. So which is it? Would love to hear your thoughts on this.
@DreadX10
@DreadX10 2 жыл бұрын
Both. 15%-20% TAG is against un-known middle-of-the-road villains. The (much) wider range is an adjustment to bad players specifically (and the ability to isolate them). In practise, you will find yourself handcuffed by the other players at the table who also spotted the bad player.....and adjusted.

I'm definitely not Nathan's caliber, but in general no...these are small stakes cash strategies, especially online. (But can work live). In tourneys you have limited resources...i.e. when you're out of chips you're out (except early rounds of rebuy/reentry ones)

This is good, but does it describe wild players? The kind I'm thinking about raise all kinds of suited junk, big. Like 15-20bb big preflop, with T3s. I'm here with KK, and since I know this player raises light, I'm re-raising. Flop is 3 7 Q rainbow. Villian shoves with his bottom pair. I call. No K on turn or river, but river brings T, giving him 2 pair to my KK, and I'm stacked again. Oh, I know his chances of making 2 pair there are very slim, and I have the advantage. Just seems to happen way too often.

What do you do when over a 4 hour period the best pair you had was 44 and the best non pair you had was 94 suited surrounded by bad players, you can bluff or value bet, are you simply doomed that tournament, or is there another option in these Super Droughts? They don’t come up too often, usually you get at least suited gappers to work with, but they do happen. Any solutions?
@PhoenixTTD
@PhoenixTTD 2 жыл бұрын
Stuff like this doesn't make sense in live low limit. 3-5x doesn't isolate anyone. 6-7x might but often they fold and you are still multiway. Raise more and they will fold but you are probably playing someone else, probably multiway. So playing for excessive bb's multiway without picking your opponent while you have a bad hand doesn't seem like a good strategy. You cannot isolate a specific limper in most situations.

@stanime3065
@stanime3065 2 жыл бұрын
If he calls i'd assume he has a pair of aces or better. So you check fold I'd guess edit: I just remembered the video says this is a value bet for the guy having like pocket 6s or some other crap, but theres no way to know he doesn't just have an ace. Am also confused as this doesn't make sense - wtf are you suppose to do other than hope he folds the flop bet,

Had A2 diamond. Call 4 people $10 preflop in BB. Flop K22 with 2 spades. I bet 20 get two callers. Turn Q heart I bet 30 get one caller. River A spade. I shove 195 all in. Fish calls with his 98 spades. You are right…fish never fold their flush on the River.

If most of your table is bad, isolating doesnt work. 4-5 people calling 6x is not unusual. And in that case you need to hit your hand. Playing against 1 idiot is easy, against multiple is hard unless you have a hand.

I've learned to not try to over inflate pots vs the any two cards Jonny's of the world. I would simply bet flop check turn for pot control and call river. You really need to have nutted hands vs these guys to bet confidently. But also the odds they will call you down when your the nuts are a lot better because these are the same guys that will never lay down two pair on any board texture

Things I learned: never bad players when you have ZERO. Only go ALLIN when you got the NUTS. Be CAREFUL going all in with a STRAIGHT if the board is WET with flush draws, most my bad beats have been these kinds of draws

Sorry but this video had so many holes...part one ..iso raise to get bad player heads up (love it). I raise to 20 in a 1/3 game..I get him solo as planned. 40 in pot. Flop comes, he then says if the pot is 10 don't bet 2, bet 8 or 10 or 20...the pot isn't ten.. its 40!! So I bet 30 if I hit and if player is BAD does he call 30, then 70, then 150? Not likely. And if he does he has min top pair. Maybe you get a real bum with a draw to pay flop and turn but he only calls riv if he hits. Same issue if the board is awful (don't bluff an idiot)..I iso the idiot with 20, then I c bet flop for 30...every time I MISS i am likely to lose 50, and since I am playing crap cards, its more likely. The trick to winning regular/low stakes is play from position. Throw in a bet or 2 from bad spots to be seen as active. But you win all your $$ by raising flop, checking turn, and bombing river (on dry boards). Rare to see someone call 200 on riv w less than trips...

So how's this for insanity.. .50/1 I'm big blind 5/6 diamonds I call a $1 raise, flop a str8 betting, more betting, I'm all in. I lose to A/8 diamonds, a few hands later, 5/6 spades I'm big blind again, I call a $1 raise again, it's just me and him, I flop a flush again, going through the motions I end up all in again, he flips A/8 spades 😅🤣🤦😭 I'm never calling raises with low suited again 😅
