Thanks alot for the video Erin. You are teaching me alot about layering. I've been at this coloring hobby about 3 yrs.now. I guess you could call me more of a shader and blender type. Like I said you are giving me alot of info about how to use my polychromps. I sure haven't gotten much use out of them yet but I think that's going to change. I love your color combo and your pic is turning out really nice!

Your picture is so beautiful. And it wouldn't bother me if you have to turn your book. Anyone who colors will understand. Thank you for so much great information. Watching you has helped me so much. I got my first bigger set of prisms colors yesterday and I love them So much. Now I'm saving to order more open stock from Amazon soon. I got 2 colorless blenders also. I only got a 48 set I had 12 already. Which colors do you think I should add first, or is that just preference?

I think it's really just preference, Jen. Think about the colors you use the most, then maybe check out some of the swatch charts floating around on the interwebs. I'd choose colors based on what you're going to use and what will work well with the colors you already have. Thanks for watching!

Hi ive just started #4 and im struggling with the paper.. Which pencils do you find works best on it..

tess obrien I use a mix of soft pencils (Black Widow, Prisma Premier) with harder pencils (Crayola, Lyra Rembrandt) and layer them. The paper can’t handle more than three layers so I use two layers with soft pencils followed by burnishing/blending with a lighter colour and harder pencils. I also use water-based brush markers (Tombow) to lay down a base coat and then use colour pencils to add shading. The markers wet the paper and the colour looks dark, but when it dries it looks lighter. Hope this helps. 😊

That information you were talking about with Katrine and having a blood clot going to her lung is hitting me close to home. I don't know if you remember that I had spine surgery in the middle of March, well all sorts of terrible things happened after the surgery and long story short, I was having awful pain in my legs and on two separate occasions they found large Blood Clots one in each leg. They also found I had blown out another disc in my spine and they had to go back and do the same surgery exactly 2 months later. I also got a blister over my entire heel on my left foot and have to keep it wrapped all the time. They also put a filter in my groin area that is supposed to catch any part of my blood clots should they break free during my second spine surgery...they didn't so far anyway. My current issue is I can't walk unassisted now. That really sucks. I'm having a nurse and a physical therapist come to my house twice a week. I am slowly working thru it but I am impatient and want it done now. I have to keep my legs elevated so I haven't been able to color and I'm bored to death.

Hi Audrey! As I always say, there's no way for me to please everyone with my color-alongs. Numerous people have asked me to use Polychromos and give a demonstration on tips and tricks, so that's what I've chosen to do. I've done many color-alongs with all kinds of pencil brands, including Prismacolor which are far more affordable. Unfortunately, there's just no way for me to pick a book and pencil set that everyone is going to have, so I just go by what people seem to be asking for the most. This time it was Polychromos. Next time it may be something like Arteza. Thanks for your understanding!
