The VERDICT: It kind of, sort of works... but I'd just prefer to use a fast drying top coat. My theory is that the Pam dries the top layer of nail polish, but anything beneath that stays wet so when you press on it, you get those indentations in the nail polish (that I personally hate). If I'm ever in a pinch/totally out of top coat, I'll go grab some Pam from the kitchen. Otherwise, this was a fail for me.

My nails typically take 30-1 hour to dry. They only take about 15-30 min to dry on the surface, but if I were to move or hit something with my nails then they would smudge because the underneath is NEVER dry. It's so frustrating, and I have extremely short nails too. This video was very helpful, even if you didn't think it worked, it wasn't supposed to dry them 100% and it is definitely faster than the normal top coat for me. So thank you!

I do this with my daughter and it does work. I lightly spray the oil, then rinse in cold water. It does not instantly dry, but it does speed up the process a great deal.

You should do the homemade Mod Podge one and then test it. It is commonly used for lots of crafts but can get pricey. When you search "mod podge recipe" all these pins come up saying that you can just mix a a bottle of Elmer's glue and water together and it is the same exact product, I just have yet to do it. A lot of the pins also say that you can add a dense glitter to add a sparkle to the mod podge or a pinch of varnish for a glossy finish. You should totally try it!

It's supposed to dry the top layer of polish so you won't completely ruin it, your nail polish is technically still wet underneath the surface layer. It works like any regular nail drying spray you can get at the beauty supply store.

The pam actually worked better than I expected. I've seen using pam or any kind of cooking oil on your manicure as a tip for making them dry faster before. But I'd always brushed it off as being a way to prevent smudges but not drying nails any faster. I like seche vite but I wish there was something that worked as well without the chemicals. thanx for the video

I tried the pam today, difference with me is I did a top coat over my polish waited 3 min and washed with cold water and it was dry. I don't know why you would think it's ok to start rubbing polish with a paper towel so soon after doing this that's just excessive. I think this method works really well as long as you don't do anything crazy for the next hour with your hands. also I think top coat alone takes forever to cure on it's own I've always smeared it when I try being careful up to 20 min later. I did not have this issue with the pam method.

Yeah, the Pam isn't meant to dry them completely. It's kind of like running them under really cold water. It's meant to set the top so that you can move around more freely sooner while they finish drying. You still shouldn't do anything really movement heavy, but at least this way you can bump your nail with your hand without ruining all your hard work. My sister uses Pam and then washes it off with cold water as like, a double dip so she doesn't ruin her nail art. I just stick to the cold water. Pam was too oily for me so I always needed to wash it off with dishsoap afterwards. If I am using an oil, I would rather use my cuticle oil than Pam, which I believe is vegetable oil. I prefer coconut and jojoba for my cuticles.

try making glasses with wine bottles by wrapping a piece of string that was dipped in acetone (polish remover) around the bottle, lighting it on fire for a bit, and then dunking the bottle and all into icy water and then firmly "smacking" it off a table to break it. also, sanding the edge you created to smooth it down.

No duh the nail polish wipes off cuz its wont dry in 2 minutes... normal nail polish takes 10 minutes to 20 minutes to somewhat dry cuz you cant expect this to dry right away. This helps to dry its somewhat and shorten the drying process time

alexis ang Then why did she even spray the "Pam" in the first place if she still needs to wait 10 - 20 minutes? Then it's pointless. The point of spraying the "Pam" on your nails is to make them dry faster. Clearly,it didn't work. :) Plus, what nail polish takes 10 - 20 minutes to dry? Maybe an old or really really cheap one. :)

I feel like this test isn't reliable. I wish that you had done a control test to show how the polish dries on its own that way we could compare the two drying techniques (air vs. Pam) to see if the Pam actually sped up or changed how fast the polish dried.

That's what I did in round 3. I sprayed, I rinsed, and then I tested it out. If the Pam doesn't dry the polish so that I can't swipe at it with a paper towel after giving it several minutes to set, I don't think it works very well.

It dries the surface faster, so that you don't get nail polish on everything that you touch. Nail polish usually takes 30 minutes to 1 hour to fully dry, so this speeds up the process.
