i do know that its possible to jump low enough to not hit your head on spikes in a 2 block high corridor in mm2 by buffering a jump when landing, but im not too sure if it works like that in mm1. if you could, you could hold right into the spike gap when twirl while already *in* the gap which may barely work?

I had a level like 22:45 on MM1, and Nintendo took it down after a couple days. There's a big elaborate scheme of absolute nonsense, but at the beginning there's a pipe a little high up that gives you a mushroom and that pipe just lets you beat it almost instantly. I put a lot of work into designing a fake level with arrows and "puzzles" that all don't do anything and Nintendo took it down :(

He's about to walk into like a fireflower. Then it was gone, because the fireflower falls from the pipe, and isn't there in the beginning, when the room loads in.
