@@colonel_carlito No. We call the people Burmese and. The country is officially Myanmar since 1989 in their constitution. Same as A220-100 and 300. Airbus buys the program that Bombardier WANTS to sell. and continue the development of them (Unlike the fool Mitsubishi who bought the old CRJ program and throw it to the dumpster for nothing burger of failed Spacejet) That's the fact.

Sure, the a220 can fly further more efficiently, but the a319 was built for short trips! Frankly, airlines should just use the a319 due to cockpit commonality, maitnence and other stuff.

Yes but adding a new fleet type increases cost on a airline A LOT!... they need Sims, a whole new warehouse for spare parts. training cost go up when pilots switch from plane to plane causes movement and down hill training. Example Southwest airlines runs 737's thats it very cost effective. Alaska airlines is parking ALL their Airbus fleet they got from the Virgin merger, SO keep the same parts and type rating still cheaper than the 220

As aircraft are built to order using common parts, I would be surprised if the model was officially dropped, especially if they can continue to make a profit on each plane sold. However, I would be surprised if the next A320 series variant or replacement included an A319 equivalent without a significant order guarantee.

The 319N made sense for spirit because of the existing CEO fleet but if and when the merger closes it would have been an orphaned fleet and I would have expected jetblue to convert the orders to 220s or larger NEOs anyway. Spirit doing so now it's either a case of thinking the merger will close soon or just deciding they'd rather upgauge across the board, or a combo of the two.

If shortage of pilots in USA and others markets means for the same amount of passengers airlines need larger planes. This situation might be an opportunity for the A330 as well as for domestics flights with high demand.

It’s like the car business, the good performance of popular selling car models will help offset losses of a slow seller. Airbus literally cannot build the 320neo and 321neo fast enough and there’s also the large business jet market for the A319neo to thrive in as an ACJ. There are still a fair few ACJ319s that need replacing. Hence, I think Airbus can take a slight hit, especially given part commonality with its bigger sisters makes maintaining the 319neo in the portfolio relatively cheap.

ACJs likely don't need the fleet commonality priorities to the same degree that those who operate hundreds do. It makes more sense for them to move over to A220 or A320n in case of a lack of A319n, as they won't be as burdened with the changes as larger operators.

Airbus sure wouldnt mind, if anything spirit upgraded their order by switching to the slightly more expensive 321n's. Same factory, same delivery slots, more or less same parts, just longer fuselage. Like the 318 that came before it, development costs are low and thus the 320n program remains profitable. Also i dont think airbus would axe the 319n. It's already there. Would be surprised however if the 319 is kept in the next gen 320 family

💡Some A319Neo goals: 100% commonality with other fleet members for training and operation. Each case is a complex system, for example Swiss (Lufthansa) to be competitive against Easyjet needs a more economical type, opted for the A220 but Latam Brasil within the market where its competitors fight to offer lower cost per seat, prefers A320Neo which has no limitation/takeoffs for landings at SDU airport a runway of 1200m LDA. Let's see that the A319Neo does have a future, especially long flights of +7:00 where Airbus should focus its sales where the A220-300 (or future 500) has no space!💰💸

The manufacturing engineering for the A220 production lines was built for a very different company, without current expectations of scaling or Airbus-level clout with suppliers. I hear it is taking Airbus a long time to reengineer the manufacturing process, and is still waiting for the program to become profitable.

@@fbkintanar It's been a much bigger challenge than they anticipated. They found out the supply chain for the aircraft it a complete mess and several design flaws in the aircraft they have to adress. Not helping right now a large portion of the aircraft fuselage comes from China. The Ireland wing production has also been not well handled. Bombardier didn't know how the manage the program now Airbus has to clean it up.

It's just getting increasingly difficult to turn a consistent profit on these shorter airframes given that they have near similar operation costs as the full size ship type with more seats. "IT'S A SHAME I AGREE", she's one of my favorites, and (quite frankly a better looker than .... whoops there I go getting personal again. NO ROOM FOR PASSION IN BUSINESS ROD !) but I believe perhaps the best full sized business aircraft. There's a sizeable market for it in this field (If you afford a BBJ you can afford to ride better!). The range is pretty amazing with this bird. We will still them often, they will just look nicer and no tacky logos spoiling that amazing corporate livery!!! Can I buy one affordably now to convert to ACJ or maybe two?

I'm just happy to see the ultra-low-cost carriers being aggressive and grabbing market share from the legacy carriers. I love flying Spirit, because the tickets to the Dominican Republic and back to see my family are around half the price of legacy-carrier tickets. Last year, I took a legacy carrier (American Airlines) on a trip from Charlotte to New York, and the only difference with Spirit or Frontier was a couple inches of more legroom, a cup of apple juice, a tiny bag of mini pretzels, and a video of a sexy flight attendant giving the pre-flight safety briefing. Neither of which I cared about.

I’m SHOCKED! The A319 was a relatively popular A320ceo fam variant with list of airlines flying the jet and it was purpose built for efficient short haul high demand routes! The A319neo is the natural best replacement for this jet and airlines like Spirit, American, United & Delta all are pretty reliant on it! Sure the A220 is a good aircraft but it’s built for long distance thin demand flights and is NOT a true successor or a valid replacement option for the A319! Hopefully Spirit reconsiders this decision especially since they are so reliant on the A319 a lot more than an A321 or needing A321neo jets! Maybe the likes of United, American and ESPECIALLY Delta Airlines (who flies the oldest fleet of A319 aircraft from Northwest Airlines) will order the type and save the program as I really do love the A320neo family jets and think the 319neo should be a HUGE success once it starts flying more! It really shocks me that Spirit cancelled it and that Delta & United who are huge fans of Airbus and fly A319s haven’t ordered them yet and probably should! 🎉😊

Why would Spirit reconsider? These planes are for Jetblue to grow their network after the merger is complete. Why would Delta order the A319neo? They are the biggest operator of the A220 family. Why would United place an order? They haven't even ordered the A320neo and have replaced some of their older ceo versions with the 737 MAX. Only makes sense for American who is the largest operator of A319-100s.

From a passenger perspective, the A319 is one of the worst planes for passenger comfort. It always feels cramped even with legacy carriers. The A220 is the polar opposite.

Any airline could make the A220 as cramped as possible. It's just that a lot of airlines cram as many seats as possible on the A319 so blame the airline, not the aircraft.

@@danielnovitadubin8272 The A319 being 3x3 and the size of the plane interior make it feel cramped. You are limited in the width of the seat. The A220 just feels roomier. You are able to install wider seats because you are limited to 2 x 3 seating. Airlines can't go 3x3 on the A220.

The A319/320/321 is essentially the same aircraft, only the length of the fuselage is different, and they also have the widest cabin of any narrow body aircraft with 6 seats abreast. Only the A220 with 5 seats abreast has wider seats in economy class, all other narrow body aircraft has “smaller” seats than the A320 family of aircraft. You can say that the A320 family of aircraft is the second best in class, only beaten by the A220.

The a319, like the a318 fit a very niche category for airlines, which I think is why we dont see many orders. The a319neo likey won't see any large orders considering there is not that many CEO's to begin with. Any airline that wouldnt be affected by fleet commonality would likely just go with the a220 or a320 family.

It's irrelevant to me as I refuse to fly Spirit. Fares for me are never cheaper with the ad ons and it's without question America's worst major airline.
