I often have thoughts like "I shouldn't feel this way" or "I'm just so sensitive" and I think part of it is that I push away justified feelings that later pop up again and again because I have't given them the room they need to be properly processed.

Thank you for these tips! I had to allow for my feelings on my own. I am not feeling celebrative and not in the mood of fun especially in times of grief. I like being in my own company for inner peace. I am embracing the slow life and adjusting to a fully retired life. This journey of finding myself is much healthier for me. I am getting into a regular routine of household cleaning and gardening. I am also focusing on frugal living and planning healthier meal plans. I have been working on it progressively over the years. Of course mistakes are made but one learn from it. I am no longer active on social media. I think I have becoming more patient with myself and with others. I have managed to have less distractions in my life. This is most definitely a big transformation for me who used to be a go getter and rushing to move forward asap. I live in the present now. Grateful and appreciative of today and each day. Alhamdulillah.

Thank you 💜 You brought up some really good points here that resonate with me deeply. About having difficulty feeling gratitude when you are going through the process of grief or any other overwhelming negative feeling - I struggle with this so much, because I habitually stubbornly fight to keep gratitude in my life no matter what. But what normally helps me to calm down is one of my favorite quotes: "The work of the mature person is to carry grief in one hand and gratitude in the other and to be stretched large by them." How I wish more people would smile the way Vera smiles. That natural, warm, spontaneous, kind of smile from the eyes that makes others feel safe and welcome and good to be around. We all have our troubles and our setbacks but let's not take it out on the world or treat other people with coldness because you feel bad. A smile costs nothing but is worth a million dollars. What you give, you get back and I truly believe that we all have an absolute duty to make this world a better place by simply being kinder to the people we meet along the way, no matter how fleeting. Maya Angelou said that it's not what you said that others remember about you but how you made them feel. And it is true.

Your content has really been matching up with where I am in my life. RE: self-acceptance, I actually am a little bit obsessed with self-improvement. I've always been very driven in this way. I've been stressed at work because of a coworker who has been missing deadlines which I'm technically responsible for. Today I had this insight that all of my anxiety and stress is coming from this idea that I must do everything perfectly in order to be acceptable, and in my mind, she has been standing in the way of my perfection! I realized I don't have to be perfect, and you know what? She doesn't either. It was such a liberating insight. Your video fits perfectly with that.

Hi Vera 😊 thank you so much for your courage, kindness, and effort to bring this information to us 🩷 I have been making a lot of habit changes this year and my peace and calm has increased so much! I don't always succeed, but I keep trying, and try not to feel guilty when I fall back into old habits. The biggest thing has been decreasing my need for constant mental stimulation (videos, audio books, phone scrolling). Just doing one thing, like washing dishes without watching a KZbin video at the same time, which is still a temptation. When I do one thing at a time, I feel such a sense of calm. I think my constant need for "noise" was a form of distraction from life stress. I am working on acknowledging the toll stress in my life takes, and making time to "recover" and rest my body and mind. So much more I could say, but all of your tips can create serious life changes! Thank you!

Item 4 is really good. I think we can get so caught up with trying to be like someone else that we forget to be who we are. Just because someone we know (or follow) embarks on an area of self-improvement does not mean we have to do the same. We all have things we need to improve, and those are the areas we should focus on (as necessary or as we desire), not the area that someone else is doing. As you said, we all have our strengths and our weaknesses and focusing on someone else's weakness serves no purpose.
@martynak9195 ай бұрын
One thing I am really working hard on giving up to be more calm (although not sure if it's really a habit😅) is getting upset about people talking nonsense, hurtful things and this constant need to change their mind by explaining. And what I mean by that is mostly politics/society oriented. As a member of LGBT community in Poland it is really frequent to hear people talk really nasty things, show no respect. And it made me really upset and mad. Now I try to not engage in those negative patterns and chose compassion over anger. It helps to keep my calm and I feel better as a human being ❤

Also interesting to observe others with these two, express feelings and how well they listen.

Hi Vera, thank you for this video. I liked what you said about how not everyone will like you the same way you don't like everyone you come across. It's something I struggle with for sure but still working on it 😌 one bad habit I am trying to break at the moment is mindlessly scrolling as it has become really bad lately, so social media has now been deleted. Thank you 🙏

Excellent video! I've been a subscriber for around 2 years now - now and again i go back to your videos for inspiration. I do admire the way you choose to live - it's very inspiring and seems very calming. I'm in a point in my life right now that i feel i need to do a lot of things, for work, self-improvement, and financial reasons. Taking note of your insights, i hope that i can slowly implement them in my life.

Haha I just had to laugh out loud when you said "...they can like other people"!😂 The whole passage about people not needing to like you is very eye-opening and you put it in such funny words. Have a great day😊

I really enjoyed this video. I particularly liked your last point about gratitude, acknowledging it and then acting on it. In the past I've kept a gratitude journal but, to be honest I found it a bit of a chore. Not that I'm saying practicing gratitude isn't important - it clearly is BUT I've always had it in my mind that writing things down that I'm grateful for was the best way to 'do it'. Keeping a gratitude journal seems to be the strategy that most wellbeing experts push. It didn't work for me so I' feel really happy that you've suggested another way to practice more mindful and meaningful gratitude for me. As I'm writing this I'm thinking about what I'm grateful for right now and it's that our old dog is doing ok, happy and healthy and enjoying his walks . Today it's perfect weather for him walking - not too hot so I'm going to take him out on an extra short walk (which he'll love) and just enjoy that time with him. Thank you for this idea.
